Our first MLB prop pick for Wednesday is for the Toronto Blue Jays to score fewer than four runs against the New York Yankees. Toronto is in a high-pressure spot coming down the stretch of this season. Look for them to struggle with that pressure against a Yankees team that has nothing to lose and has one of the best pitchers in all of baseball on the mound going into this one.
Gerrit Cole is pitching for the Yankees in this game, who is almost a guarantee to finish this season as the AL Cy Young winner at this point. Cole enters this contest at 14-4 with a 2.75 ERA, and he has allowed two or fewer earned runs in six straight starts. Look for him to continue that streak on Wednesday against a Blue Jays team that has not been consistent offensively at all.
This season, Toronto ranks 16th in the league in runs scored, and they could struggle mightily against Cole in this contest. Not only could they struggle because they are facing Gerrit Cole, but because the Blue Jays are dealing with the pressure of trying to protect a postseason spot via the Wild Card race. We could see a second straight game between these teams that does not feature many runs.
The series between the Chicago Cubs and Atlanta Braves is an interesting one this week. The Cubs are fighting for their playoff lives this week, as they are barely in the top-three Wild Card spots going into Wednesday, while the Braves have all but clinched the top-seed in the postseason. Here, we like the Cubs to get a big win, and for starting pitcher Jameson Taillon to pick up the decision.
Taillon has not been spectacular this season by any stretch of the imagination, going 8-10 with a 5.05 ERA. But he could have the upper hand in the starting pitching matchup in this game, as he faces a pitcher in Darius Vines who has thrown just 14.1 innings on the season. Vines is not someone the Braves will be relying on in the postseason, and the Cubs could take advantage of that here.

Our final MLB prop pick for Wednesday comes from the massive matchup between the Seattle Mariners and Houston Astros in the AL West. Both of these teams appear to be resigned to fighting for Wild Card spots in the final week of the regular season, with these two teams separated by just a half-game for the final Wild Card position in the American League. In this game look for Mariners slugger Julio Rodriguez to go deep against the Astros to help Seattle’s cause.
Seattle will look to do damage against Framber Valdez to start this game, something that can be done. The Houston ace is just 12-11 on the season, and his 3.39 ERA is respectable but suggests that he can be beaten on any given day. Valdez has allowed 18 home runs this season, which is not a huge number, but speaks to the fact that he can be squared up on and taken deep.
As for Rodriguez, this is the kind of moment where he is meant to shine. He leads the Mariners in batting average, home runs, and RBI, and he has come up big for them time and time again when needed. Look for Rodriguez to do the same thing in this game, and generate some excitement in the Pacific Northwest with a home run to help Seattle come away with a massive victory at home.
