Tigers vs. Orioles - Tarik Skubal vs. Dean Kremer (6:35 PM, EST)

Tarik Skubal is one of the best pitchers in baseball and he is great for NRFI wagers. He’s coming off an AL Cy Young award season and has posted similar stats in 2025.

Skubal is 6-2 with a 2.16 ERA to go with 105 strikeouts in 83.1 innings. He has the fourth most strikeouts in the league and is always at the top of the list every season. 

Skubal will face an Orioles lineup that is hitting .237 which is the ninth worst in baseball. There were high expectations in Baltimore this season, but they simply have not been getting it done at the plate. 

Dean Kremer will get the start for the Orioles. He is 5-6 with a 4.98 ERA on the year. 

Kremer has fanned 53 batters in 72.1 innings and has a WHIP of 1.41. The Tigers score in the first inning 35% of the time which is the tenth best in baseball, but I think Kremer will get the job done. 

The total for this game is eight which isn’t high, so it tells us there is good chance for limited runs. 

I expect Kremer to start this game strong in the top half of the first, and for Skubal to finish the job in the bottom of the inning.

Cardinals vs. Brewers  - Sonny Gray vs. Jacob Misiorowski (7:40 PM, EST)

A pair of NL Central teams square off on Thursday between the Cardinals and Brewers. When these two teams play the games are typically low scoring which is why I’m taking the NRFI. 

Sonny Gray gets the start for St. Louis with a 7-1 and a 3.35 ERA. Gray has one of the best records in baseball and I like our chances with him on the bump. 

Gray has struck out 81 batters in 75.1 innings which is what separates himself from most pitchers in the league. He has a 1.13 WHIP and doesn’t walk anyone which is a recipe for success when taking a NRFI wager. 

The Brewers will go with Jacob Misiorowski who is making his professional debut on Thursday. Typically, I stay away from pitchers making their debut, but Misiorowski has been dominating in Triple-A , posting a 4-2 record with a 2.13 ERA this season.

Misiorowski records most of his outs on the strikeout as he has fanned 80 batters in 63.1 innings. When you have two pitchers in the same game that record a ton of strikeouts, the NRFI can be beneficial.

I trust Gray’s ability to have a clean first inning, and have high expectations in the rookie to perform well. St. Louis is traveling after playing yesterday and I think their bats may start slow.

• Yankees vs. Royals - Will Warren vs. Seth Lugo - Warren has a 5.34 ERA and Lugo hasn’t been the same pitcher he was last year. There were 12 runs scored in game one of this series. 

• Giants vs. Rockies - Hayden Birdsong vs. Antonio Senzatela - Senzatela is 1-10 with an ERA of 6.68. Colorado is also a friendly ballpark and there should be runs scored.
