Tigers vs. Athletics - Casey Mize vs. Jeffrey Springs (9:40 PM EST)

The Detroit Tigers have announced they’re trading Tarik Skubal, but they’re not giving up on the 2026 season. They want young controllable talent that can help the team win right now, and they need all the wins they can earn. 

This series against the Athletics is a perfect chance to stack wins as Sacramento is nearly 20 games under .500. 

Pick: Under 0.5 First Inning Runs (+125) at DraftKings

Getting plus money with Casey Mize on the mound is hard to pass up for this NRFI. The Tigers right hander has been outstanding this season, posting a 2.70 ERA and an excellent 0.99 WHIP while consistently attacking hitters early in games.

Jeffrey Springs has struggled overall with a 6.23 ERA, but Detroit's offense has been inconsistent at times, and the value at +125 is simply too good to ignore. 

Mize should give the Tigers every opportunity to keep this game scoreless through the first three outs, making this one of the better value plays on Friday's board.

Twins vs. Mariners - Zebby Matthews vs. Bryce Miller (10:10 PM EST) 

The Twins and Mariners are both chasing a playoff spot. Neither team is safe in the race as they’re on the outside looking in by a few games, making this series critical.

Bryce Miller continues to be one of the best NRFI pitchers in baseball. He enters Friday with a 2.75 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP, allowing very little traffic on the bases while consistently working efficient innings.

Minnesota counters with Zebby Matthews, who has endured an up and down season, but Seattle's offense has been streaky enough to give him a chance to navigate the first inning. 

With Miller anchoring the matchup and both clubs capable of starting slowly at the plate, this is another strong NRFI opportunity.

Rangers vs. Astros - Nathan Eovaldi vs. Hunter Brown (8:15 PM EST)

The American League West race is heating up, and the Rangers and Astros are right in the middle of the race. The playoff race between these two teams makes this a crucial series.

Nathan Eovaldi has once again been a reliable presence in the Rangers rotation, striking out 130 batters over 122.1 innings while carrying a solid 4.05 ERA. 

Houston counters with Hunter Brown, who has impressed in limited action with a 3.45 ERA and 50 strikeouts across 47 innings.

Both pitchers have swing and miss stuff, and neither lineup gets an easy assignment against experienced right handers. Therefore, I’m closing my NRFI card with this matchup.

• Yankees vs. Cubs - Will Warren vs. Shota Imanaga: Both offenses are capable of putting pressure on opposing starters immediately, making this my favorite YRFI spot of the day. Will Warren has shown flashes but has also been prone to allowing early traffic, while Shota Imanaga has surrendered his share of home runs this season.
