Best NRFI Bets Today July 4

Baltimore Orioles vs New York Yankees - Kyle Gibson (R) vs Clarke Schmidt (R)

Under 0.5 (+105 at DraftKings)

Our first MLB NRFI wager for Tuesday is for the first inning to go scoreless between the New York Yankees and Baltimore Orioles. Even with some less than stellar starting pitching on the mound, getting this wager at plus money is something that is worth doing when these two teams are involved.

Kyle Gibson and Clarke Schmidt are on the mound to start this game for their respective teams from the Bronx. While both of those pitchers have ERAs over 4.00 on the season, they should be able to do just enough to keep their opponents off the scoreboard early in this game. This is especially true with the Yankees offense being so hit or miss with Aaron Judge out of their lineup right now.

There is also the fact that the Yankees and Orioles went scoreless in the first inning of their matchup on Monday night to open this series. Even with Domingo German on the mound, in a letdown spot after his perfect game last week, the Orioles were not able to push anything across in the first inning. Expect something similar to play out here and for this game to cash for NRFI bettors.

St. Louis Cardinals vs Miami Marlins - Adam Wainwright (R) vs Jesus Luzardo (L)

When the St. Louis Cardinals and Miami Marlins face off on Tuesday, expect some early fireworks on the Fourth of July. One or both of these teams should score in the first inning to cash a YRFI bet in this matchup. With Adam Wainwright on the mound for the Cardinals, the Marlins are a team to look at as especially likely to score in the opening inning of this contest.

Wainwright has really struggled so far this season, going 3-3 with a 7.45 ERA on the season. He has allowed 77 hits in 48.1 innings of work, and he has a WHIP of 1.94, which is incredibly high no matter what your stature in the major leagues may be. Here, Wainwright will continue to put on baserunners at an alarming rate.

Also worth remembering is the fact that Wainwright will have to face Luis Arraez in the first inning of this game, who is well on his way to leading the league in batting average and hits on the year. If Arraez reaches base early for the Marlins, things could really snowball out of control for Wainwright in the first inning and Miami could string a few hits together to take an early lead.

Los Angeles Angels vs San Diego Padres - Shohei Ohtani (R) vs Joe Musgrove (R)

Under 0.5 (-135 at BetMGM)

Our final MLB NRFI play for Tuesday is for the first inning to remain scoreless between the Los Angeles Angels and the San Diego Padres. This is a game where both teams are sending stellar pitchers to the mound, which should work in the favor of NRFI bettors. Shohei Ohtani getting the start for the Angels will always make them a popular NRFI play, but the pitching situation for the Padres is strong as well.

Ohtani enters this contest with a 7-3 record and a 3.02 ERA, but it is Joe Musgrove of the Padres who is also capable of helping this game stay 0-0 after an inning of play. Musgrove is 6-2 with a 3.80 ERA, and he should be just as capable of Ohtani of hanging a zero on the scoreboard in the opening frame.

Musgrove will be challenged in the first inning by the lineup of the Angels, as he does have to face Mike Trout and Ohtani. But he has proven this season that he can deal with facing tough lineups, as there are several in the NL West. Look for Musgrove to pass another test en route to a scoreless opening inning.
