Braves vs Rockies Picks

The Braves are coming off of a three-game series against the Giants, where they came out victorious. Atlanta is also 9-2 in their last 11 games. With everything going in the Braves' favor, it would be surprising if they lost on Monday.

Atlanta is putting right-hander Bryce Elder on the mound for the 26th time this season. Elder has proven to be a reliable option for most of the season. He’s coming off of a solid performance against the Mets, where he pitched 5.1 innings, giving up just two hits and one earned run.

The Rockies are fresh off of a three-game series against the Orioles, where they lost two of those contests. Colorado has struggled to find consistency throughout most of the season.

The Rockies are bringing out left-handed pitcher Austin Gomber. Gomber has been extremely questionable all season for this team, and it doesn’t look like his luck will change. Gomber is coming off of a six-inning outing against the Rays, giving up seven hits and three earned runs.

With this game being in Colorado and the Braves hitting the ball extremely well, the over is the best bet for what looks to be a potential home run derby for Atlanta. The over is slightly elevated, but it’s been hitting in games played in Colorado lately and consistently.

Braves vs Rockies Predictions

Braves vs Rockies Predictions

The Braves have managed to stay consistent all season and haven’t shown any signs of slowing down. Elder’s stats speak for themselves, as he has a 10-4 record with a 3.39 ERA through 143.1 innings.

While he hasn’t been one to rack up strikeouts, he still manages to find a way to keep batters off the bases. If he can limit the Rockies opportunities, there will be one more win under his belt for the 2023 campaign.

Austin Gomber has yet to show why he belongs in MLB. He comes into this game with a 9-9 record and a 5.48 ERA through 136.1 innings of work. Gomber will have to change what he's been doing all season to have a chance at a win against the best team in baseball. Gomber just gives up way too many uncontested hits to beat a team like the Braves.

Atlanta Braves Preview

Atlanta has been a complete powerhouse since the first pitch of the season. This team is the most complete and consistent in the MLB. Their pitching is on the money, their bats have been on fire, and their record speaks for itself.

It’s easy to say that Atlanta is spectacular, but their key stats really paint a complete picture. The Braves pitchers have given up the fifth least hits, the least amount of runs, and have the fifth most strikeouts in the entire league.

Meanwhile, on the other side of the field, they are first in home runs, RBIs, and batting average. They’re also second in the league in hits.

Colorado Rockies Preview

The Rockies have been worse than expected in 2023. Their stats back that up as well. They are currently sixth worst in home runs, tenth worst in runs, and have struck out 1224 times, which is third most in MLB.

Colorado has also managed to give up the most hits in the league with 1244, the second most home runs in the league with 186, and have the second worst team ERA in baseball at 5.51.

The Rockies are onto 2024 with how they have played in the first three quarters of the season. They’re just looking to build momentum heading into the offseason.
