Best MLB Home Run Predictions Today: Wednesday is for Catchers
Wednesday could be a good day to be a big league catcher. We didn’t do this on purpose, but three of our four home run targets are catchers. There are several power-hitting catchers in the majors right now, and a few of them have favorable matchups on Wednesday, which is why we’re banking on them to hit a home run.

Home Run Picks for Wednesday, July 8
There are some fantastic home run props out there today, but some stand above the rest. Below are the players we’re locked in on.
Samuel Basallo Anytime Home Run (+340) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Basallo is someone who needs to start gaining consideration as a target on home run bets. The 21-year-old catcher is up to 14 home runs, including two in the last three games that he’s started. Basallo has hit for a lot more power at home, with 13 of his 14 home runs coming against right-handed pitchers, which is why he’s a good target on Wednesday at home against Colin Rea and the Cubs.
Rea is having a decent season, but he’s been vulnerable to the long ball. Also, left-handed batters are hitting .310 and slugging .448 against him, so Basallo should match up well against him. Rea is also getting crushed on the road, pitching to a 6.60 ERA and giving up most of his home runs away from Wrigley Field, which is another reason to like Basallo.

Hunter Goodman Anytime Home Run (+230) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Goodman had to be scratched on Tuesday because of an injury, but if he’s back in the lineup on Wednesday, he’s an easy target. He’s third in the majors with 27 home runs and is 7 for 18 with a home run during the first week of July. Goodman has plenty of power and is swinging a hot bat right now, so now is a good time to target him if he’s in the lineup.
The kicker is that Goodman has a great matchup on Wednesday against Roki Sasaki. The long ball continues to plague Sasaki, who gave up three home runs in his last start and seven across his last four starts. Surprisingly, right-handed hitters have a far better slugging percentage against Sasaki, which is why it makes sense to target a right-handed hitter like Goodman against him.

Jake Bauers Anytime Home Run (+350) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Bauers isn’t a common target for home run props, but he’s in a good spot on Wednesday. Over his last four games, he’s 4 for 13 with a home run and four doubles, so he’s trending in the right direction. Of his 16 home runs this season, 13 have come against right-handed pitchers, setting him up to succeed against Michael McGreevy.
While he has just two career at-bats against McGreevy, he’s 2 for 2 with a home run against him. McGreevy has also been vulnerable to the long ball this year despite his impressive 3.12 ERA. He’s allowed 13 home runs, nine of which have been hit by left-handed hitters. That makes Bauers Milwaukee’s best home run option.

Dillon Dingler Anytime Home Run (+420) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Dingler has been Detroit’s biggest power threat this year with a team-high 19 home runs. In fairness, he’s in the middle of a 10-game homerless drought. But that also means he’s due to finally get his 20th home run of the season, especially given the favorable matchup he has against lefty Jeffrey Springs.
The two have never faced each other, but Springs has been mashed by right-handed hitters all season. The southpaw has given up 24 home runs this year, with 18 of those being hit by right-handed hitters, who are slugging .535 against Springs. Springs has also given up at least one home run in nine straight starts, including multiple home runs in five of his last six starts. Someone on the Tigers is bound to take Springs deep, with Dingler being the best bet.
