Ryan Truex Looks for Second Win After Last Year’s Breakthrough

One of the feel-good stories in NASCAR racing last year was Ryan Truex’s victory at Dover Motor Speedway.

First of all, Truex’s only NASCAR Xfinity Series win came at his home track, the closest venue to his Mayetta, New Jersey, home.

Second, it preceded a NASCAR Cup Series triumph by his older brother, Martin Truex Jr., on the same weekend.

It’s true that victories at Dover come in clusters. Kyle Busch, Carl Edwards, Christopher Bell, Denny Hamlin, and Joey Logano all have won back-to-back Xfinity races at the Monster Mile.

In fact, Busch did it twice, and Logano won four straight, sweeping the races in 2012 and 2013. None of those drivers, however, will be competing on Saturday.

It’s also true that Truex, Cole Custer, and Justin Allgaier are the only Dover winners in the field. We just don’t think Truex will be able to win two straight, given the competition, and we are steering clear of last year’s winner at +600 via DraftKings Sportsbook.

Joe Gibbs Racing’s Sheldon Creed Can’t Be a Bridesmaid Forever

Former NASCAR CRAFTSMAN Truck Series champion Sheldon Creed hasn’t enjoyed the success he expected after moving up to the Xfinity Series.

After switching from Richard Childress Racing to Joe Gibbs Racing between the 2023 and 2024 seasons, Creed is still seeking his first victory in the series.

It’s bound to come at some point. The driver of the No. 18 JGR Toyota has posted 14 top-five finishes in the Xfinity ranks. Eight of those are second-place runs and another three are thirds.

JGR’s Ryan Truex won last year’s Dover race, so the equipment isn’t an issue. Because Creed is offered at enormous odds (+2500 via DraftKings), we recommend a long-shot bet to win, along with a bet to finish in the top three at +700.

Justin Allgaier Boasts a Formidable Record at the Monster Mile

Veteran Justin Allgaier has 23 starts at Dover Motor Speedway, two of which resulted in victories at the one-mile concrete track.

Included in Allgaier’s statistics are 12 top fives, 16 top 10s, and 514 laps led at the Delaware Speedway.

What Allgaier has to overcome is a streak of ill fortune that has beset his efforts this season. The driver of the No. 7 JR Motorsports Chevrolet has led laps in six of nine races this year but has failed to find Victory Lane.

We think Allgaier’s fortunes will turn at Dover, and we recommend a bet on the veteran driver at +300 via DraftKings Sportsbook.
