Philadelphia 76ers vs Atlanta Hawks Predictions and Picks

The Sixers need a victory, but the supporting cast has struggled to support the efforts of Joel Embiid. The Hawks, on the other hand, have home court after overcoming a massive deficit to put themselves in this position.

Our Pick
We don’t see the Sixers struggling so much in this game, and the Hawks are unlikely to have another explosive quarter to save them.

PHI: If Philly Can’t Play Together, They’ll Lose

The Sixers have their backs against the wall against the fifth seed in the Eastern Conference. If Philadelphia want to force a Game 7, they must produce consistently as a unit.

Philadelphia were rolling in the first half against the Hawks, outscoring their opponents 62 to 40. However it was the second half where they struggled. Seth Curry and Joel Embiid accounted for all 12 of their team’s second half field goals and just six points coming from the rest of the Sixers team.

Forcing a Game 7 is no easy task, but the Sixers certainly have the talent to do so. All they need to do is put in the same effort through four quarters.

Sixers Key Player: (G) Seth Curry

The Philadelphia 76ers collapsed in their last game due to the failures of their side in the second half. However, one player that stepped up to the challenge in Game 5 was Seth Curry.

The less famous Curry brother was immense in the Sixers’ loss, scoring 36 points and collecting seven rebounds on 13 of 19 shooting from the field. He even converted on 7 of his 12 three-point attempts.

His rhythm going into an elimination game is key, as he’s been one of Philly’s few reliable outside threats through this series.

ATL: Keep Grinding

The resolve of this young Atlanta Hawks team is something to marvel at. While they were outclassed for the majority of the game, they maintained their effort and pulled off an incredible upset.

After a first half where the Hawks shot just 31% from the field and allowed the Sixers to shoot 53.5% from the field, they flipped the game on its head and converted on 26 of 43 field goal attempts in the second half.

Atlanta will certainly feel empowered going into this matchup, but they can’t get out to another poor start. If they can compete from the tip, Atlanta may find themselves in the Eastern Conference Finals!

Hawks Key Player: (G) Lou Williams

Few players can make the impact of Lou Williams, both on and off the court. In Game 5, Williams showed he still has plenty to contribute to the Hawks’ championship efforts.

Upon first glance, Williams put in a solid 15 points, three assist, two steal showing in Game 5. However, it was his fourth quarter where he scored 13 of his 15 points that showed his class.

Williams isn’t the scorer he once was, but he’s more than capable of putting in a strong showing in key moments. With the Sixers’ backs against the wall, Williams has a chance to put a stamp on his legacy.
