Our Picks:
The Denver Nuggets are looking for scoring and Aaron Gordon showed that he was up to the task in Game 1. He scored 18 on eight of 14 shooting, though not hitting a three-point field goal. Our confidence lies in head coach Mike Malone’s willingness to let Gordon post up the smaller Phoenix guards. He’s proven to be effective from Game 1 alone.
Chris Paul is Phoenix’s general on the court. The offense generally runs through him, justifying his high usage rate. Due to the fact that the Suns are attacking Denver through the pick-and-roll, Paul will continue to find opportunities to score.
Facundo Campazzo is not an extraordinary scorer, but with all of the focus on Nikola Jokic, he is getting a fair amount of opportunities. Campazzo is not shy from three, attempting six threes and converting on three of them. Clearing 1.5 should be a given for the Argentinian in Game 2.
Nikola Jokic is a force on all offensive fronts for the Denver Nuggets. Clearing 47.5 will be difficult for him, as the Suns are long, athletic, and willing to blitz him on the defensive side of the ball. His scoring efficiency is likely to improve based on his individual ability alone, but Phoenix’s defense are certain to limit him in the other areas.
