Florida began its year with a tough loss to Utah but has won three straight games since, including a 29-16 victory at home against Tennessee. Kentucky has ended on top of all four of its contests but has not played a team with a winning record.
Here’s a look at how the oddsmakers are shading the matchup.
Team | Spread | Money Line | Total |
No. 22 Florida | +1 (-110) | +100 | Over 44 (-110) |
Kentucky | -1 (-110) | -120 | Under 44 (-110) |

Kentucky won a Week 2 matchup between the two schools last year 26-16. Soon-to-be fourth-overall pick in the NFL Draft, Anthony Richardson, was held to 14/35 passing for 143 yards and two interceptions, while future second-round pick Will Levis led a victory.
This time, both teams have new quarterbacks under center. Florida’s Graham Mertz, a Wisconsin transfer, is coming off his best game of the season, in which he completed 87% of his passes for 259 yards and a touchdown against the Charlotte 49ers.
Kentucky’s Devin Leary, on the other hand, just had a QBR of 28.4 to go with 205 yards, a 51.7% completion percentage, a touchdown, and two interceptions in a 42-28 win over the Vanderbilt Commodores.
Both teams are strongest on defense. Florida has allowed just 13.5 points per game, while Kentucky is close behind at 15.5 points allowed per outing.
Florida is more committed to the run and is therefore a more balanced team. That said, despite running for over 100 yards more than Kentucky thus far, the Wildcats have the advantage with nearly 5.5 yards per carry.
A win is of the utmost importance for both teams’ postseason prospects. They have the misfortune of sharing an SEC East division with the No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs, which means a single loss could effectively remove them from contention for the conference tournament. Florida already has one loss, and a second would be catastrophic.
The spread means the oddsmakers view this game as a pick’em. It should be a tight contest, but we like Florida on the margins.
