The Maryland Terrapins, led by junior Anthony Cowan and sophomore Bruno Fernando, need to find some consistency as they’ve gone 3-3 in their last six matches. All of those matches are against Big Ten opponents.
While they recently gained a big win over No. 12 Purdue, there have been concerning trends for the Terrapins in their losses. Against Illinois only three players scored in the double digits for the Terrapins. In a loss to Michigan State the scoring distribution was the same.
When the Terrapins take on the Wolverines they will be facing one of the country’s top defensive lines. Limiting their opponents to 39% from the field, Michigan is excellent at running players off of the three-point line. If Maryland can’t create the spacing to have equal contributions from their entire line, it’ll be a tough night for the Terrapins.
Head Coach: John Beilin {Overall: 22-3 .880 W-L% | Conference: 11-3, 1st in Big Ten}
The Michigan Wolverines are leading the Big East by a mile. Once on a seventeen game winning streak, the Wolverines have lost some games against key opponents. After losing to Penn State on the road, they’ll look for revenge against No. 24 ranked Maryland.
Michigan, usually vaunted for their perimeter defence, struggled against Penn State in their most recent loss. While the Wolverines were able to score at a reasonable clip of their own, Penn State’s 46% from two and 49% from three were enough to edge out the Big East leaders.
When the Wolverines face the Terrapins they will need more contributions from their team as a while. While only eight players appeared in their loss to Penn State, they will need more contribution from the likes of Ignas Brazdeikis – who was a very quiet 3-4 from the field in seven foul-ridden minutes.
The Maryland Terrapins have no roster changes of note.

Maryland and Michigan will be pitting their two dynamic scoring guards against each other when they face off. Charles Matthews and Anthony Cowan will be looking to rally when they come to blows.
Anthony Cowan has been a consisted scorer for Maryland. While his volume is quite high, he generally maintains good efficiency if his three-point shot is falling. He has been in a bit of a slump recently, scoring less than eleven points in four of his last six matches. He will have to find his rage against a tough Michigan perimeter defence.
Charles Matthews has done well to justify his transfer from Kentucky in his sophomore season. With his size and skill, Matthews is dangerous regardless of who is defending him. He’s also been on fire in recent matches, going a combined 17-27 from the field in his last two matches.
The odds makers have the Michigan Wolverines favoured over the Maryland Terrapins by 7.5, with an over/under of 110.
