POINT SPREAD: Minnesota Vikings -4.0 (-110) at WynnBet
Welcome once again to NFL Saturdays: it’s now Week 15 of the 2022 regular season with the first of three games featuring the 4-8-1 Indianapolis Colts facing the 10-3 Minnesota Vikings, these Colts coming off a Week 14 bye so they should be healthier and well rested whereas the Vikings are coming off a loss so they are ready to help claim their postseason spot with a win here.
Every week the sportsbooks tell us what the trends of each team have been, and they say the Minnesota Vikings have covered the spread in each of their last seven games against AFC opponents, so we are taking that bet here especially since it looks like whatever interim HC bump the team got by firing Frank Reich and hiring Jeff Saturday has just about worn off.
Here’s another oddsmaker factoid - the Vikes have won each of their last dozen games as favorites, plus add to that the fact that they are playing this one at U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, Minnesota where the fans are dedicated and loud at all the right times, and the Colts have only won just two road games this season, so it looks bleak for them in Week 15.

This points total bet number (48.5) seems a bit high given how these two offenses matchup, but according to the oddsmakers, five of the Minnesota Vikings' last six games at U.S. Bank Stadium have gone over the total points line, so it’s worth taking a closer look at the past scoring trends of each of these teams during the season.
In terms of putting points on the scoreboard, the Colts QB Matt Ryan-led offense is second worst in the league by averaging just 16.1 points per game, and the Vikings with QB Kirk Cousins under center score 24 points per game, that total of 40.1 points well under what the oddsmakers are predicting, so that is the direction we are taking on this points total bet.
These defenses could have their day, so it makes sense to take a look at how they typically allow opponents to score, with the Colts DC Gus Bradley’s defense allowing an average of 22.9 points per game and the Vikings DC Ed Donatell’s defense allowing an average of 24.1 points per game, that total of 47 is still under what this bet allows, so that seems to be a good bet.

You may be in the mood to add an extra thrill to this game by making a bet as to which player might score a touchdown, and Caesars is offering this special bet that gives you odds on most of the playmakers who will play on Saturday, and we are looking at the top three picks.
First up is Colts RB Jonathan Taylor (-155) and he can run with the ball as well as catch it, this season having 192 carries for 861 yards and 4 TDs as well as 27 receptions for another 130 yards, the tenth most productive RB this season who will be facing the Vikings’ 16th ranked rushing defense.
Next in line is Vikings dual threat RB Dalvin Cook (-135) who can hurt you on the ground and through the air, this season with 242 total touches for 1,120 yards from scrimmage and 9 total touchdowns, he’s a go-to target for QB Kirk Cousins as well as a menace to linebackers trying to tackle him from the waist up.
Finally, there is Vikings WR Justin Jefferson (-114) who is coming off a game in which he and QB Cousins combined for a franchise record 223 yards off 11 receptions, this year with a league-leading 1,500 yards worth of catches off 99 receptions for 6 TDs, a good bet for this wager since he has scored TDs in four of his last six games.
