Saints vs. Rams Betting Tips

The Saints entered the season as heavy favorites to win the NFC South. After 15 weeks of football, they find themselves in second in the division, tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers at 7-7 but behind by way of divisional record.

Last week marked the Saints’ second straight game only allowing six points to their opponent, which helped them climb to sixth in average points allowed (19.1). However, the two teams they faced, the Carolina Panthers and New York Giants, rams 29th and 31st in average scoring.

Derek Carr played one of his best games of the season and finished 23-28 for 218 yards and three touchdowns. It was his first time throwing for three TDs in one game and his fourth multi-touchdown, zero-interception game this season.

On the other side, the Rams took down a struggling Washington Commanders team 28-20 at home. They were ahead 20-0 less than a minute into the third quarter and were able to cruise to the finish line despite giving up two touchdowns in the final two minutes.

Matthew Stafford continued his late-season resurgence by going 25-33 for 258 yards and two touchdowns. He now has 12 touchdowns and only one interception in his last four games and also has not earned a QBR less than 73 during that time.

The running game also looks completely different than it did at the start of the season. Rookie Kyren Williams averaged 131 yards and scored three TDs in his last five games, which has provided balance to a previously pass-heavy offense.

LA’s defense has also improved significantly and kept five of its last six opponents to 20 points or fewer.

We’re looking at the Rams to cover in this one. Stafford is more likely than Carr to continue his impressive play, and we like the Rams’ newfound ability to run the ball. The Saints’ D will be tough to crack but will only be able to withstand so much time on the field if the offense falters as it has many times already.
