Another playoff spoiler potential in the NFL’s Week 18 lineup as the postseason-eliminated New York Jets face the right-on-the-bubble Miami Dolphins, this Jets team still figuring out their starter under center as Mike White’s ribs heal and Zach Wilson’s accuracy plummets (54.5% completion) while the Dolphins try to stop their five-game losing skid, inexplicable given their roster talent.

The oddsmakers have this game almost close enough to be a pick ‘em but given the number of injuries that the Dolphins are dealing with under center – Tua Tagovailoa (concussion, doubtful), Teddy Bridgewater (finger, questionable) – with only rookie backup Skylar Thompson ready to fill in, we like the Jets to cover here as they attempt to end their tough season on a relatively high note.

However, the oddsmakers tell us that the Jets have failed to cover the spread in four of their last five games and that the Dolphins have won each of their last six home games against the Jets, so if you believe those two trends will continue regardless of who Miami starts at QB, take the Dolphins and the point and hope their speedy receivers take over this AFC East matchup.

POINTS TOTAL: Under 38.5 (-110) at FanDuel

Looks like the oddsmakers figure it might be tough to score given they predict these two teams will only total 38.5 points, a low number that makes sense given the quarterbacks these two teams might be forced to start due to injury, though typically the Jets and Dolphins offenses combine for 42.2 points each week, a possible sign to take the over if the injuries aren’t factored in.

According to the sportsbook experts, each of the Jets' last four games have gone under the total points line, so we like that for this Week 18 wager, but given the way these defenses defend – they allow a combined 43.7 points each week – it might make sense to take the over, especially if you check back before game time and see that some of the injured playmakers are suiting up.

A home-field advantage could help the Dolphins depending on how hot the January Florida sun is on Sunday since the visitor side of Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens is directly exposed to those rays, a factor that has affected plenty of opponents who fail to properly hydrate and effectively shade themselves from the heat, not to mention the noise of the playoff hungry Miami fans.

SPECIAL: Highest Scoring Half – Second Half (-120) at WynnBet

Here is an NFL Week 18 Special bet from WynnBet that has the bettor guessing which half (if any) will include the highest scoring during the game, with a $100 bet on the first half paying winners $105 plus the original wager and a $120 bet on the second half paying out $100 plus the investment, whereas a $100 bet that both halves will be tied pays winners $1800 plus the bet.

The Dolphins' offense is dependent on their ability to threaten deep with speedy receivers including Jaylen Waddle and Tyreek ‘The Cheetah’ Hill, two constantly open targets who have combined for 15 receiving TDs this season who will be double-teamed by the Jets secondary including CBs D.J. Reed and rookie sensation Sauce Gardner as wells as safeties Jordan Whitehead and rookie Tony Adams.

Keep in mind that it is Week 18 in the NFL season and plenty of injuries will come into play so be sure to check the injury reports before game time to make sure your favorite playmakers will be playing, right now with the Jets listing three players as questionable including OG Nate Herbig (ankle) while the Dolphins have seven players either questionable or doubtful.
