Super Bowl Over/Under Odds: Bettors Hammering Over, but Line Staying Put

Published February 5, 2025

The Super Bowl is a few days away, and one of the most anticipated bets for the game is the over/under. Most bettors root for points because seeing limited scoring is never fun.

The Chiefs and Eagles combined for many points in Super Bowl 57, and bettors expect the same on Sunday. Here, we will break down the over/under for the Super Bowl and give you the needed information to make a profitable bet for the big game.

Super Bowl Betting Splits

The Super Bowl total opened at 48.5 on FanDuel Sportsbook. However, an influx of bets on the over caused the total to shift to 49.5.

One point can significantly change how bettors react in the market, and some larger wagers came in on the under, causing the total to return to its original mark.

Even though nearly 80% of the money and bets are on the over of 48.5, the total has stayed stable at its current mark.

The total may spike to 49.5 before kickoff, as there are still many days before the Super Bowl. However, bookmakers trust some of the larger bets on the under, as they haven’t moved the line.

We project the number will be 49.5 by kickoff because of the amount of money coming in on that side of the line. However, only time will tell if this prediction will come true.

Over/Under Super Bowl Trends

The Eagles have one of the best scoring offenses in the NFL and the second-best rushing offense. The team has been fantastic under their new star running back, Saquon Barkley.

Barkley came to the Eagles in the offseason and instantly became a much more impactful back than ever in New York. When Barkley was with the Giants, he didn’t have a lot of help from his offensive line.

The Giants didn’t sign Barkley and allowed him to walk within the division to Philadelphia. He led the league in carries with 345 and was first in yards with 2,005.

Although the Chiefs don’t have one of the best-scoring offenses in the NFL, they can rise to the occasion and match styles. If the Eagles score, the Chiefs have the team to score many points.

We saw this against the Bills, as the Chiefs had the season's most considerable scoring output. They scored 32 points in the win, which was enormous based on previous totals.

Even though bettors trust the over on Super Bowl Sunday, these two teams have been profitable to the under in 2024.

Kansas City is 8-11 to the under, and Philadelphia is 9-11 to the under. These two teams have scored consistently in the playoffs, but it will be interesting to see if they keep up their pace.

If Philadelphia establishes the run early, this game will likely exceed the total. This will force the Chiefs to score to keep up, which means points will be added to the scoreboard in the big game.
