We’re just a week away from Memorial Day, the official start of summer. With that, there’s a ton going on. The second leg of the Triple Crown, golf’s second major, and baseball is in full swing to name a few things! Need to stay caught up? It’s time for another episode of Wise Kracks.

On this week’s show, Bill Krackomberger and Jon Orlando are joined by Larry Collmus, a legendary race caller and the lead race caller for NBC Sports’ coverage of the Triple Crown and the Breeder’s Cup. You may have heard him recently as he was the one who called Rich Strike’s win at the Derby recently.

Tiger’s back! He’ll be hitting the links at the PGA Championship to compete. Do you know who won’t be there? Phil Mickelson. There’s a lot of drama regarding Phil and Jon and Bill break it all down.

I’m sure inflation has been on the forefront of everybody’s mind. Does it influence Las Vegas at all? Bill and Jon think there’s a bit of immunity in Sin City.

Phil Mickelson, Tiger Woods & The PGA Championship

Tiger Woods will be in the field for his second event of the season as he attempts to take down the PGA Championship. The last time Woods golfed, he finished T-47 at the Masters.

He started strong but a 78 during Saturday and Sunday’s play sank him.

While Tiger has been progressing upwards, the same can’t be said for Phil Mickelson. “I’m not really a Phil fan,” said Bill. “If you knew more about Phil like Tiger… There’s a couple stories there.”

Phil is currently facing backlash for his comments about the PGA tour among other things. Check out the episode to hear more!

And They’re Off!

Larry Collmus joined the show to discuss everything horse racing and he had stories that are surely going to blow your mind, including calling his first race at the age of 18!

Larry recently called the Kentucky Derby and had an incredible call that Bill and Jon noticed. “Chills again,” said Jon. “That was awesome. It’s amazing seeing that and hearing that [The Kentucky Derby call],” said Bill.

However, Larry is critical of his calls and always sees room for improvement.

As a race caller, you’re always like ‘you can do better, wish I picked up a horse earlier’, you do your best and try your best to see as much as possible.

With Rich Strike’s big victory still on many people’s minds, Larry saw it from a great vantage point and said: A lot of times when horses are making their moves, they’re on the outside.

Then all of a sudden Rich Strike just shot of a cannon on the inside.” Make sure you check out the whole interview to see what life is like as a race caller.
