Alisson Becker is firmly established as Brazil’s first-choice pick between the sticks. The Liverpool man has been one of the world’s best goalkeepers for years now and he is one to watch in terms of the Golden Glove. Jordan Pickford, who also plays in the Premier League, will be a contender if England performs well.
Emiliano Martinez helped Argentina to World Cup glory in Qatar four years ago, winning the Golden Glove in the process. The Aston Villa goaltender is now targeting a second individual prize. Mike Maignan and Unai Simon of France and Spain respectively are also likely to be among the favorites once the sportsbooks have finalized their odds.

Manuel Neuer has ruled out a return to international soccer for World Cup 2026, so Oliver Baumann will probably be Germany’s last line of defense in the USA, Canada and Mexico. Portugal, who are also potential World Cup challengers, will look to Diogo Costa between the posts. Both Baumann and Costa could emerge as Golden Glove challengers.
The same applies to Bart Verbruggen, who is in pole position to be the Netherlands’ No.1 at the World Cup. Another possible challenger for the Golden Glove is Thibaut Courtois. Widely regarded as one of the best goalkeepers on the planet, there are nevertheless doubts about how far Belgium will go.

If you are looking for outsiders on whom it could be worth a small flutter, start with Zion Suzuki. Japan have been tipped as dark horses for World Cup 2026 and a strong set of showings from their goalkeeper could put Suzuki in contention for the Golden Glove. By the same token, do not rule out Sergio Rochet of Uruguay.
Colombia’s goal will be guarded by either Camilo Vargas or Kevin Mier, while fans of the USMNT may fancy a bet on Matt Freese, especially after the co-hosts were handed a relatively kind draw for the group phase. That favorable path has not only created value in individual player markets, but it has also inspired plenty of optimistic supporters to take a closer look at the overall Team USA odds to win the World Cup.

Kalshi is a CFTC-regulated market, not a sportsbook. It is legal in many US states where sports betting is not, making it the perfect alternative for those residing in particular parts of the country.
Instead of betting on the World Cup Golden Glove in the traditional way with odds such as +500, you buy ‘yes’ shares. For example, tipping Alisson Becker to win the Golden Glove might cost 15 cents per share, which implies a 15 percent chance of success.
What are the advantages of Kalshi? The most obvious one is its legal status. For aspiring sports bettors living in states such as California and Texas, Kalshi is your best option. And because Kalshi is fully regulated at the federal level, it is an option for people based in states where sports betting is legal too.
There are other benefits too. Whereas traditional sportsbooks charge a vig on losing wagers, this does not exist for Kalshi, which often has tighter spreads as well. Finally, you have the option of selling your position during the tournament if the price spikes. For those living in states where sports betting is not legal, Kalshi allows you to get involved in a different way.

Alisson Becker has been one of the world’s best goalkeepers for much of the past decade, and he will be Brazil’s last line of defense this summer. There has been much talk about Brazil’s attacking options ahead of the tournament, but Carlo Ancelotti’s side will need a solid defence in order to achieve their goal of winning the World Cup.
Alisson is more injury prone than other goalkeepers, though, so that is a slight concern for the Liverpool shot-stopper. Brazil’s loss to France in the March international break was also a warning for Ancelotti’s men, but the Selecao are nonetheless among the favorites to triumph, and Alisson is a solid Golden Glove candidate.
Hugo Lloris was France’s long-serving goalkeeper until the last World Cup, but he has since been replaced between the posts by Mike Maignan. The 30-year-old came through the ranks of Paris Saint-Germain as a youngster, but he has made a name for himself at AC Milan. As the captain of his club, Maignan is a respected leader.
Under Didier Deschamps, France are a tough team to play against. They do not play the most exciting brand of soccer, but their approach is undoubtedly effective. With an emphasis on a strong defense, France should keep plenty of clean sheets in North America. That is good news for Maignan’s chances of winning the Golden Glove.
Jordan Pickford was a mainstay for England under the management of Gareth Southgate, and Thomas Tuchel has stuck with him as the national team’s No.1. Pickford does not play for a top Premier League team and he is yet to play a single minute of Champions League soccer in his career, but he has been a reliable performer for England throughout his international career.
However, England’s defense is probably its weak point. Marc Guehi is a terrific central defender, but there are question marks over who will partner him in the backline. There is uncertainty at full-back and in the deep-lying midfield role too. England are better going forward than they are defensively, and that could count against Pickford.
No goalkeeper in the history of the award has ever won the Golden Glove more than once, but Emiliano Martinez has the opportunity to do just that in the USA, Canada and Mexico. The recipient of the prize in 2022, Martinez was integral to Argentina’s success in Qatar and he is still their go-to goalkeeper four years on.
Martinez has made a few high-profile errors at club level over the past couple of campaigns, yet he can still pull off incredible stops for both Aston Villa and Argentina. He also has a reputation as a penalty-saving expert, so that could stand him in good stead this summer. Do not rule out Argentina or their custodian.
Anyone who does not follow the Spain national team closely may be surprised to learn that neither David Raya nor Joan Garcia is their first-choice goalkeeper. Things could yet change in the next couple of months, but at the time of writing Unai Simon remains Spain’s No.1. He has the faith of Luis de la Fuente, not least for his role at Euro 2024.
Spain’s possession-based style looks well suited to the heat and humidity of the USA and Mexico in June and July. Their ability to keep the ball helps to protect their defense, which in turn makes clean sheets more likely. Spain do not give much away, so Simon will receive plenty of backing from sports bettors in the race for the Golden Glove.
The Golden Glove only became an official prize in 2010. Before that, and starting in 1994, the best goalkeeper at the World Cup won the Lev Yashin Award, named after the legendary former Soviet Union custodian. In the table below, we have supplied a list of the previous recipients of the gong.
| World Cup | Golden Glove |
|---|---|
| 1994 (USA) | Michel Preud'homme (Belgium) |
| 1998 (France) | Fabien Barthez (France) |
| 2002 (Japan and South Korea) | Oliver Kahn (Germany) |
| 2006 (Germany) | Gianluigi Buffon (Italy) |
| 2010 (South Africa) | Iker Casillas (Spain) |
| 2014 (Brazil) | Manuel Neuer (Germany) |
| 2018 (Russia) | Thibaut Courtois (Belgium) |
| 2022 (Qatar) | Emiliano Martinez (Argentina) |
