Czechia vs. South Africa

Matchday two of the group stage begins as Czechia faces South Africa in a crunch clash in Group A, with the latest World Cup Group Stage odds pointing to a fiercely competitive matchup.

Czechia Clean Sheet (+125) at DraftKings

The pressure is on Czechia and South Africa after both teams suffered defeat on matchday one. Czechia took the lead against South Korea but the concession of two goals in the final quarter saw it lose 2-1. As for South Africa, it was second best throughout a 2-0 defeat by co-host Mexico.

This is now a must-not-lose encounter for the two Group A teams. Indeed, whichever team is defeated today will find itself on the brink of an early elimination. The stakes are high, which will produce a cautious game of soccer. The fear of losing will trump the lure of victory. Do not expect a goal-heavy game.

Czechia looked limited against South Korea, with set-pieces the only way it carried a threat. That was at least more than South Africa, which was toothless from open play and dead-ball situations alike. Bafana Bafana produced just two shots on target against Mexico and registered an xG of just 0.07. It also failed to score in its final tune-up friendly against Nicaragua, which ranks 131st in the world.

Czechia is a physical, robust team and South Africa will find it tough to break open its backline. Back a Czechia clean sheet at +125 with DraftKings.

Switzerland vs. Bosnia & Herzegovina

Switzerland and Bosnia & Herzegovina go head-to-head in a crunch clash in Group B.

Over 9.5 Corners (-120) at DraftKings

Switzerland was hit with a sucker punch last time out, as an own goal from Miro Muheim saw it draw 1-1 with Qatar. That was a hugely frustrating outcome for the Swiss, which dominated the match from start to finish but was made to pay for its wastefulness in front of goal. Murat Yakin will demand a more clinical edge up front today, a factor that is heavily influencing the updated World Cup odds for this matchup.

Bosnia & Herzegovina drew 1-1 with Canada in its first game. It took the lead with a goal from a corner and will look to exploit similar opportunities here. Bosnia & Herzegovina does not have a huge amount of creativity from open play, which is why it places such great importance on set-pieces.

Switzerland is less reliant on corners, but it will probably get plenty today. That is because Bosnia & Herzegovina will sit deep, inviting shots from outside the box from Switzerland. Those are the type of attempts that often lead to corners via deflections from defenders or saves from the goalkeeper.

There were 13 corners in Bosnia & Herzegovina’s meeting with Canada. In the qualifying play-offs, there were more than 10 when Bosnia & Herzegovina faced both Wales and Italy. Go for over 9.5 corners against Switzerland at -120 with DraftKings.

Canada vs. Qatar

Canada and Qatar are both targeting their first-ever World Cup victories when they face off today.

Mahmud Abunada Over 4.5 Saves (+115) at DraftKings

Our best soccer player props today include this selection for Canada vs Qatar in Group B. Qatar goalkeeper Mahmud Abunada was kept busy in the 1-1 draw with Switzerland, and he should prepare for another eventful assignment as his side takes on Canada today.

Both these teams drew 1-1 last time out, but the games were very different in character. Whereas Canada was superior to Bosnia & Herzegovina and could easily have won the match, Qatar was second best against Switzerland. However, its opponent was profligate with its finishing and that allowed Qatar to stay in the game before its dramatic late equalizer. The performance showed Canada's attacking threat, though the long Canada odds to win World Cup glory indicate they still have a mountain to climb in the grand scheme of the tournament.

Qatar had Abunada to thank for keeping it within one goal of Switzerland. He made five saves in total to deny the Swiss the second goal that would have surely earned it all three points.

Canada had 13 shots against Bosnia & Herzegovina and it is likely to have even more today. Beating Abunada will not be easy, though. Tip the Qatar goalkeeper to make over 4.5 saves at +115 with DraftKings.

Mexico vs. South Korea

Both victorious on matchday one, Mexico and South Korea are aiming to make it two wins from two today, a crucial matchup that will undoubtedly impact the latest Mexico odds to win World Cup futures.

Over 2.5 goals (+145) at DraftKings

The final of our daily World Cup team props for today’s action focuses on a second co-host in Mexico. It beat South Africa 2-0 on matchday one, while South Korea defeated Czechia 2-1. In a way, a draw would suit both teams as it would in effect send Mexico and South Korea through to the knockout phase. But neither side will play for a point today.

The pressure has reduced on Mexico and South Korea due to their victories last time out, but both nations will want to top the group. That points towards an entertaining encounter at Estadio Guadalajara, with three or more goals a distinct possibility.

South Korea played some lovely soccer against Czechia. It scored twice and could have found the back of the net once or twice more, particularly if the team’s most iconic player, Son Heung-min, had been sharper. Mexico also had opportunities to strike more than twice against South Africa.

In two of South Korea’s last three games, there have been over 2.5 goals. In the other match, there were two goals and should have been more, with the USA failing to score against South Korea from 17 shots. Pick over 2.5 goals at +145 with DraftKings.
