BATE Borisov vs Shakhtyor Soligorsk Match Odds

We are looking at the most important match of the season for both of these teams. BATE Borisov want to hold on to pole position, while Shakhtyor hope to dethrone the current leaders. Picking between these teams is not an easy out.

Both teams have been on a fantastic run as of late, each without a loss over their last seven matches. The odds look toward BATE as the favored team in this match, however, Shakhtyor’s defensive consistency is something to be be considered. Despite having a historical advantage against Shakhtyor, BATE has seen the difference in quality between the two sides grow closer and closer. BATE’s ability to score has been their greatest asset so far this season, second only to their consistency.

Over 12 Premier League matches played, BATE have allowed 16 goals. Their defense has been leaky since May began, despite a rather positive defensive run during the early portion of their campaign.

It’s no secret that BATE Borisov will be conservative in their attack in order to take down Shakhtyor. While BATE’s attack is impressive, Kirill Alshevsky will be more than cautious committing his players forward against a talented counterattacking side.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk Match Preview

Manager: Yuriy Vernydub

Top Scorer(s): V. Lisakovich (6), D. Podstrelov (4), D. Bodul (2)
Form: W-W-W-W

Match Highlights (07-06-2020)

 #8 A. Selyava  #35 P. Checnovskiy
 #27 J. Szoke
 #28 I. Ivanovic
 #88 V. Lisakovich

Shakhtyor have made their name on their tremendous defensive efforts. While they have excellent goal-scorers in Lisakovich and Podstrelov, the truth is that their defensive ability powers their creativity moving forward.

Their strong back line allows for their attackers to get forward and commit to their goal-scoring. In their last match against Energetyk-BGU, Shakhtyor owned 59% of possession and had the defense on their heels all match. Despite scoring just a single goal, they had solid efficiency with five of eleven shots on goal.

BATE are one of the few teams in the league that can match their goal-scoring ability. Yuriy Vernydub has showed a posession-focused style of play in their recent run of play. Should they be able to breakdown BATE early, claiming the top of the league table could easily be in the cards.

What’s at Stake?

  • BATE and Shakhtyor own a particularly one-sided rivalry. Over 57 matches played between the two clubs, BATE own 31 wins to Shakhtyor’s 12. There are 14 draws between the two sides. BATE have won four out of their last seven meetings with two draws.
  • A win for BATE Borisov would give them a five-point lead over Shakhtyor who own second in the league.
  • A win for Shakhtyor would boost them above BATE for the top spot in the Vysheyshaya Liga table.

Players to Watch

BATE Borisov – #9 (FWD) Bojan Dubajic

Odds taken from DraftKings Sportsbook

Bojan Dubajic Odds
Player to Score +148
First Goal +420

Bojan Dubajic enters this match as one of the favorites to score a goal for BATE Borisov. The Serbian striker has only appeared in three matches so far this season, but he’s been impactful in limited minutes.

The odds in favor for Dubajic to score a goal mostly come from his excellent history as a scorer. While he has scored just six goals in 21 overall appearances for BATE, his odds also stem from his 22 goals in 45 appearances with his previous club Gorodeya.

He is going up against a back line that hasn’t allowed a goal since April. All eyes are on Dubajic to break that streak.

Shakhtyor Soligorsk – #19 (FWD) Vitali Lisakovich

Odds taken from DraftKings Sportsbook

Vitali Lisakovich Odds
Player to Score +188
First Goal +510

Vitali Lisakovich is the goal-scoring leader for Shakhtyor Soligorsk so far this season. Whether he has excellent service or sparse opportunities, Lisakovich has shown to be clinical with the ball at his feet.

BATE are a team that have struggled with their backline in a number of games, allowing 14 goals in their last six Premier League matches.

Lisakovich has scored in his last two matches and this will be the toughest defense has faced over the course of his last three games. He’ll be hard-pressed to score a goal, unless Shakhtyor can take control of possession.
