BATE Borisov

Manager

Kirill Alshevsky {Current: 2-0-2 (8th in Vysheyshaya Liga) | Top Scorer: Stanislav Dragun (2) | Form: LLWW}

Expected Starting XI

(GK) #48 D. Shcerbitskiy – (DEF) #21 E. Filipenko, #3 B. Nastic, #4 A. Filipovic, #23 Z. Volkov – (MID) #33 P. Nekhajchik, #22 I. Stasevich, #25 D. Baga, #8 S. Dragun, #5 E. Yablonskiy – (FWD) #11 A. Saroka

Despite coming up short in their first two matches of the season BATE looks as if they’ve finally found their form after reeling off back-to-back victories against Ruh Brest and Minsk.

While BATE had issues with their backline in their first two matches, they’ve been able to sort out their defense in their last two matches by earning a clean sheet in both.

BATE will be hard-pressed to break down a Torpedo BelAZ defense that is yet to concede a goal in any of their three victories.

Torpedo BelAZ

Manager

Yuri Puntus {Current: 3-0-1 (1st in Vysheyshaya Liga) | Top Scorer: Gabriel Ramos (2) | Form: WWLW}

Expected Starting XI

(GK) #1 V. Bushma – (DEF) #21 M. Bordachev, #3 V. Ustinov, #88 D. Yashin, – (MID) #77 M. Afanasjev, #10 A. Khachaturyan, #6 J. Premudrov, #81 N. Stepanov – (FWD) #33 V. Gorbachik, #8 Gabriel Ramos, #90 D. Antilevskiy

Torpedo BelAZ have been flying since the Vysheyshaya Liga kicked off. Despite coming off of their first loss of the season in a 2-0 against Dinamo Minsk, they are looking very impressive in their early campaign.

Torpedo-BelAZ have been getting by on their organized back line and willingness to counterattack. Despite not owning the majority of possession in any of their wins, Torpedo have shown some clinical finishing.

When Torpedo-BelAZ takes on the fifteen-time Vysheyshaya Liga Champions, they’ll face their first true test of the season. BATE’s squad is loaded with attacking talent, Torpedo’s five-man backline will have to show their quality.

What’s at Stake?

Across all competitions BATE have 30 victories compared to Torpedo-BelAZ’s five. The last time that Torpedo-BelAZ defeated BATE in the league was in 2016.

A win for Torpedo-BelAZ would bring them to 12 points and keep them at the top of the league table.

A win for BATE Borisov would bring them up to nine points and as high as third in the league table.

Players to Watch

BAT: (#8) Stanislav Dragun

BATE have found their legs in the Vysheyshaya Liga in part due to the spectacular recent form of attacking midfielder Stanislav Dragun.

Dragun is coming off of the highest-scoring season of his career and he already has two goals in three matches. Deployed as an attacking midfielder, Dragun has found new life in his play and is orchestrating fantastic opportunities for his teammates.

After sorting out their defensive issues from earlier in the season, Dragun will be relied upon to get them back in goal-scoring form. BATE have never finished lower than fifth place in the Belarusian Premier League, and they’ll need a run of victories to overcome their early struggles.

TOR: (#8) Gabriel Ramos

The 24-year-old Brazilian who transferred to Torpedo-BelAZ from the Georgian League and has gotten off to a brilliant start.

The center-forward has been industrious in attack, pressing defenders and firing shots from anywhere on the pitch. His wonder strike against BGU was an absolute beauty!

Gabriel needs to continue his pressuring style of play. BATE believe that they’ve settled into a decent defensive form, it will be up to Gabriel to prove otherwise.
