Deccan Gladiators are slightly ahead of Bangla Tigers in terms of head-to-head records. They have beaten the Tigers twice, while the Bangla boys have got the better of the Gladiators only once. Since they have had a better run so far this season, Deccan Gladiators are likely to win this match.

Gladiators and Tigers fight for a common target – Ticket to Qualifier 1

Having won six of their nine matches, Deccan Gladiators are placed at the second position in the Abu Dhabi T10 League 2021 standings. They started with three wins in their first four outings. Bangla Tigers handed them their second defeat in their fifth match, but Wahab Riaz’s team bounced back well and went on a three-game unbeaten streak until Team Abu Dhabi got the better of them in their previous match.

The Gladiators’ next assignment is against the Bangla Tigers, who have won five of their eight matches and are placed at the third position. They had a poor start to their campaign, losing their first two matches against Team Abu Dhabi and Delhi Bulls. However, Faf du Plessis’ team did remarkably well to win their next five games, while they too are coming into this match on the back of a defeat.

Team News

The decision to keep Afghan all-rounder Karim Janat in the playing XI against Delhi Bulls did not work out well for Bangla Tigers, as he conceded 14 runs in only one over and scored only 8 runs. In his place, the Tigers management can reintroduce Isuru Udana in the playing XI. The veteran Sri Lankan all-rounder has not been particularly impressive either, but still has 4 wickets and 50 runs to his name.

Deccan Gladiators could make two changes to the team that took on, and lost, against Team Abu Dhabi last time out. Sultan Ahmed failed to pick wickets again and has still has only 2 wickets to his name, despite playing 9 games. He could make way for Afghan pacer Hamid Hassan, while another Afghan is Najibullah Zadran could be replaced by the English big-hitter, Tom Banton.

Key Players

Wanindu Hasaranga: Wanindu Hasaranga is currently the desired asset in franchise cricket since he provides teams with the perfect short-format package. The Sri Lankan all-rounder has been fantastic with the ball, picking up 13 wickets, while he also has scored 45 runs at a strike rate of 187.50. Hasaranga picked up a four-wicket haul in his third game of the competition against Team Abu Dhabi, while in the same game, he also played a crucial knock of 30 runs.

Hazratullah Zazai: Like Hasaranga, franchises from all parts of the world equally adore Hazratullah Zazai for his power-hitting and ability to get his team to a flying start. He has scored 223 runs and is the only Deccan batter to have reached the 200-run mark. The 23-year-old scored an unbeaten 59 in his last game against Bangla Tigers.
