The odds for Delhi Capitals vs Sunrisers Hyderabad are taken from bet365. Head to bet365 and place your bet!
In terms of head-to-head records, there is not a great deal to separate these two sides. Sunrisers Hyderabad have managed to get the better of Delhi Capitals on 11 occasions, while the latter have had the last laugh eight times. However, in terms of current form, Delhi are way ahead of their opposition, who have won only one match. So, the Capitals are the favorites to secure two points from this encounter.
Delhi Capitals: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant (c & wk), Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Ravichandran Ashwin, Kagiso Rabada, Anrich Nortje, Avesh Khan.
Sunrisers Hyderabad: David Warner, Wriddhiman Saha/Shreevats Goswami, Kane Williamson (c), Manish Pandey, Abhishek Sharma/Abdul Samad, Vijay Shankar, Sherfane Rutherford/Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan, Khaleel Ahmed.
Sunrisers Hyderabad and Delhi Capitals are occupying the two opposite poles in the points table of IPL 2021. The Capitals have won six of their first eight matches, and are sitting in second place. They are behind table-toppers Chennai Super Kings only on the basis of net run rate.
The Capitals are only two wins away from making it to the playoffs, and would want to secure their ticket early, so as to prevent any late drama. Sunrisers Hyderabad are placed at the very bottom, having lost all of their first phase matches barring one. They will need to win all of their second phase matches to get into the playoffs. While that seems incredibly difficult, the team whose disbandment have lead to the creation of SRH, Deccan Chargers did something similar a decade or so ago, when they won all of their last five matches.
Delhi Capitals and Sunrisers Hyderabad have not been dealt with massive blows in terms of player unavailability. Sunrisers will be without the services of Jonny Bairstow, but the player they have signed as his replacement, Sherfane Rutherford has been in sublime form in the recently-concluded Caribbean Premier League. He will fight with his fellow countryman Jason Holder for the spot of the fourth overseas player, while David Warner, Rashid Khan and skipper Kane Williamson are expected to take up the other three places.
Delhi Capitals have two absentees in Manimaran Siddharth and Chris Woakes, but neither of the two were expected to feature in the playing XI anyway. Shreyas Iyer, who was nursing a shoulder injury and did not feature in the first leg, is not fit and available for selection. Their four overseas spots are likely to be taken up by the South African pace duo of Kagiso Rabada and Anrich Nortje, Caribbean big-hitter Shimron Hetmyer, and the all-rounder from Down Under, Marcus Stoinis.
Kane Williamson: Made captain of the team mid-way through the season, Kiwi batter Kane Williamson has looked in ominous touch for the Orange Army. He has scored 128 runs in four matches, which includes one half-century. Williamson is the only player from his team to have an average of over 50.
Shikhar Dhawan: Shikhar Dhawan might have been excluded from the Indian squad to feature in the 2021 ICC T20 World Cup, but his stats in the ongoing IPL season will make you question that decision by BCCI. He has been the Capitals’ best batter, having scored 380 runs in the right matches. His average of 54.28 is the highest among those Delhi batters who have scored 100 or more runs.
