Gujarat Titans vs Sunrisers Hyderabad Prediction and Pick

In the previous meeting between Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad earlier this season, the latter registered a comfortable 8-wicket win. Having said that, Hardik Pandya’s men made an incredible comeback since that morale-drenching defeat and will come into this game on the back of three consecutive wins. Hence, we have predicted Gujarat Titans to bag two points from this fixture.

Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad battle for supremacy in ‘Clash of the Titans’

Gujarat Titans and Sunrisers Hyderabad will cross paths in the 40th match of the 2022 Indian Premier League Season at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium Wednesday, 27th April.

This game can be dubbed the ‘clash of titans’; since the top, two teams in the standings will battle for supremacy here. Gujarat Titans are leading the charts, having won six of the seven matches they have played so far. Hardik Pandya’s team started their IPL journey with three consecutive wins against Lucknow Super Giants, Delhi Capitals, and Punjab Kings. They were handed their first defeat by Sunrisers Hyderabad, but since then, the Titans have embarked on another winning spree, beating Rajasthan Royals, Chennai Super Kings and Kolkata Knight Riders in their last three fixtures.

On the other hand, Sunrisers Hyderabad had a pretty contrasting start as they lost their first two fixtures – against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants. However, Kane Williamson’s team have since won five matches on the trot, beating Chennai Super Kings, Gujarat Titans, Kolkata Knight Riders, Punjab Kings, and Royal Challengers Bangalore in the process.

Team News

There is absolutely no need to tinker unnecessarily with a winning combination for Gujarat Titans since they are on a winning run. There is, however, room for fine-tuning. Wriddhiman Saha scored 25 runs in the last match but his strike rate of 100 was unimpressive. He could be dropped for Afghan power-hitter Rahmanullah Gurbaz, but for that to happen, Hardik Pandya will need to replace overseas pacer Alzarri Joseph with Darshan Nalkande or Umesh Yadav.

Like their opponents, Sunrisers Hyderabad too will not be willing to make any change to their winning combination. Almost all of their players did well in the last fixture against Royal Challengers Bangalore, and those who did not do anything in the likes of Aiden Markram and Shashank Singh, it was simply because they were never called into action. Hence, we can expect the Orange Army to field an unchanged playing XI.

Key Players

Hardik Pandya: Gujarat Titans is not a star-studded team and they have predominantly relied on different players in different matches, but there is one underlying theme – the dependency on captain Hardik Pandya. The all-rounder is batting high up the order, at number three, and is also bowling four overs for his team. He has scored 295 runs, which includes a sensational 87 against Rajasthan Royals and a 67 against Kolkata Knight Riders, and has also picked up four wickets.

T Natarajan: Like Pandya, T Natarajan is also eyeing a way back into the Indian T20 team and it will be fair to say that so far, he has given a great account of himself. The left-arm pacer is currently the second-highest wicket-taker in this competition, having scalped 15 wickets in seven matches at an average of only 14.53. Natarajan has picked up a couple of three-wicket hauls in IPL 2022, which has come against Kolkata Knight Riders and Royal Challengers Bangalore. Besides that, the lad from Salem has picked up at least one wicket in every single fixture, which highlights his consistency.
