We have two highly anticipated clashes from Group 1 of the Super Eight phase of the ICC Men's T20 World Cup on Thursday. Heavyweights and World Cup 2023 finalists Australia and India take on Bangladesh and Afghanistan respectively in matches they are expected to win fairly easily.
With just a handful of games determining the semi-finalists of the tournament, the Super Eight games are vital for teams looking to make it to the end of this tournament. Group 1 is the tougher of the two groups with three Asian giants and Australia clubbed together. Only two would make it out of the Group to the semi-finals, making every game critical for the teams.
For the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024, the recommended sportsbooks are FanDuel and BetMGM with both giving enticing welcome offers for fans looking to bet on the games.
Here is a glance at the best player prop odds from BetMGM and FanDuel for the two Super Eight clashes from Group 1 of the T20 World Cup.

India haven't played on very helpful batting tracks this T20 World Cup, but Rishabh Pant has been the standout batter for them, showcasing power and panache with the bat. The wicketkeeper batter comes off the back of a stellar IPL 2024 season and has looked in pristine touch this tournament so far.
Against Afghanistan’s bowling attack and their spinners, Pant will be India's key batter again. His unorthodox batting style will suit the surface here in Barbados. Afghanistan’s spin trio needs a strong counter and as India's best left-handed hitter in the middle-order, Pant will be tasked with taking them on.
Back the Indian wicketkeeper to be the top run-scorer this match.
Fazalhaq Farooqi has been a beast with the new ball for Afghanistan and has made inroads into the top-order of teams with his sharp lengths and swing back into the right-handers. With the Indian batting line-up being predominantly right-handed with a well-known weakness against left-arm pace, Farooqi becomes key for Afghanistan.
In Barbados, where the pitch is fresh, expect pace bowlers to get swing and seam upfront and Farooqi could prove to be a handful for India's batters here. He has 12 wickets in four games this tournament and is the leading wicket-taker. If Afghanistan are to make it to the semi-finals from here, Farooqi and his Powerplay wickets will be quite pivotal.
Afghanistan’s batting has been a pain point for them for a few years and while in this tournament, they seemed to have turned a corner, a bowler of the quality of Jasprit Bumrah isn't someone they face every day. Bumrah has only played against Afghanistan once in T20Is and in the two ODIs he did play against them, he has six wickets.
Afghanistan’s top and middle-order remain vulnerable to new ball pace and movement and Bumrah has that in plenty as he showed in New York. With more of subtle movement expected in Barbados, the Indian seamer could bring the edge into play more and he could be in for a big haul here.

Bangladesh face a stiff ask in their first game of the Super Eight with the all-conquering Australian side up against them. In Antigua, we have had two low-scoring games and with rain around, it doesn't help a team like Bangladesh when they go up against an Aussie unit packed with world-beating fast bowlers.
To fight the Aussie bowlers here, Bangladesh need their senior-most batter stepping up. With a first half-century in the T20 World Cup earlier this tournament, Shakib, who has made an appearance in each edition of the T20 World Cup, will be tasked with fronting up and making big runs.
Shakib has looked in decent touch this tournament, but his task here will be cut off by the pitch and Australian pacers. But if you're placing a punt on a Bangladeshi batter, it might as well be Shakib, who is up for a fight every single time and has the experience and skill to put the Aussie attack under fire.
Travis Head’s aggressive methods upfront against the new ball has brought him huge success in recent years, and a Bangladesh attack in the Super Eight stage of a world tournament seems right up Head’s alley. With a World Cup final century for the ages just months ago, Head should be primed to succeed here against Bangladesh.
However, a few things go against the Aussies left-hander on this pitch and against this new-look Bangladesh pace attack. Led by Tanzim Hasan and ably backed by Taskin Ahmed, Bangladesh have pace and skill with the new ball. The duo also specialise in bowling straighter lines and Head’s weakness when faced with deliveries seaming back into him is well documented.
While the majority might be backing Head to go big here, we think there's real merit in the theory the Bangladesh quicks would get through him early.
