  • G2, who finished first and took top honors, could choose the team they would face in the first round and settled on Team BDS as their opponent, who finished the Summer Split in fifth place
  • G2 has a 100% win record over the summer season against BDS. Their choice of opponent sets them up for some early momentum in the high-stakes LEC Season Finale
  • The losing team will face one of SK Gaming or Fnatic, depending on the outcome of the other opening stage match of the tournament

G2 Esports vs Team BDS Prediction

G2 Esports vs Team BDS Predictions

G2 Esports is having a massive 2023 season. So far, they won the Winter Split, placed fourth in the Spring Split, and finished 5-6th in the 2023 Worlds before returning to the EMEA circuit and winning the Summer Split in 2023. Seemingly, they have adapted exceedingly well to the new format of the LEC, doing so well that they put themselves in a position to cherry-pick their opponent for the first round of the Season Finals.

On the other hand, BDS has been in shaky form despite finishing the Spring Split in second place. BDS finished the 2023 Summer Split in 5th place, a two-place improvement over their 7th place finish in the 2023 Winter Split. Their 2nd place finish in the Spring Split has been their best performance to date, and the team has been unable to replicate the same level of success ever since.

With no roster changes in 2023, BDS will be playing with a stable squad. While this could work in their favor, it also means that their opponents know exactly what to expect from them, especially in the case of G2, who has successfully beaten them multiple times in the past.

Like Team BDS, G2 has also kept the roster the same in the past year. If history is any indicator, their upcoming match is a foregone conclusion: G2 will win. G2 was in great form even before winning the championship, and now their confidence is likely to be at an all-time high as arguably the strongest team in the LEC today. It shouldn’t be surprising that BDS is rated as a nearly 8-to-1 underdog on most sportsbooks, while G2 Esports is favored to win at nearly a 1:1 pick.

Previous Meetings

BDS and G2 have faced each other 12 times in the LEC, with their first meeting in the 2022 Summer Split. BDS has emerged as the winner in only two of these meetings, while G2 has been clearly established as the superior team. Using previous results and current form as an indicator, we predict another one-sided contest in this upcoming matchup.

Team BDS Faces an Insurmountable Challenge

We sympathize with BDS for finding themselves in a position where they must face the team that has been their Kryptonite since their entry into the LEC. Across the Summer Season, Team BDS has four wins and five losses in the regular season and only two wins and five losses in the Group stage.

Across the season, BDS dealt an average of 1836 damage per minute with 10.7 kills and 12.9 deaths per game, making for an average K/D ratio of 1.6. With 2.2 average assists per kill, they dealt first blood in 44.4% of their matches. Surprisingly, BDS has won 100% of the time when ahead at 15 minutes, although this might be since they only get ahead by the 15-minute mark when they are in games that they are absolutely sure to win.

In the last season, Team BDS acquired an average of 1787 Gold Per Minute and destroyed the first tower in 33.3% of their games. They have three wins and two losses as the blue side and one win and three losses as red.

G2 Esports Are on a Roll

In contrast to their upcoming opponents, G2 has only a single loss out of the nine games that they played in the regular season of the LEC Summer Split. They also swept out the Group Stage with four wins and zero losses. Their damage per minute statistic is much higher than BDS, with 2536 on average. They scored a massive average of 21.5 kills to 10.8 deaths per game, making for a K/D ratio of 2.3, with 2.5 average assists per kill.

If BDS had one redeeming stat, they win 100% of the time when ahead at 15 minutes. Unfortunately for them, G2 also excels at winning when the momentum gets going in their favor and also has a 100% win rate when ahead at 15 minutes. Over the summer split, they acquired an average of 2536 gold per minute and destroyed the first tower in an impressive 75% of all their games. Playing as the red or blue side had no effect on G2 during the Summer Split, as they won 2 games as either side in the regular season.

Star G2 players caps won 2 MVP awards in the group stage while Hans Sama and Yike both won an MVP award a piece in the playoffs stage. The 1st All-Pro Team from the 2023 Summer Split comprises members of G2, with no other players making the cut to be classified as among the best of the best.
