  • FlyQuest and Golden Guardians will fight it out this Saturday for a place in the LCS Spring Playoffs 2023 finals.

  • This is FlyQuest’s second shot at a final after losing 3-0 to Cloud9 in the third-round winners' bracket match. FlyQuest were the best team in the league season, along with Cloud9, and head into this match as strong favorites.

  • Golden Guardians shocked everyone in the LCS when they knocked Evil Geniuses out of the tournament with a 3-0 victory in the third-round losers’ bracket. They’ve gone up a notch in this season’s playoffs.

FlyQuest vs Golden Guardians Predictions

FlyQuest vs Golden Guardians Pick

Pick:  Golden Guardians to win.

FlyQuest vs Golden Guardians Predictions

The odds have FlyQuest as strong favorites heading into this game, which shouldn’t come as a surprise based on the league performances of both sides, but the playoff form suggests that the bookmakers might’ve got this wrong.

Golden Guardians have knocked out two LCS giants on their way to the third round, and they’ve done it with conviction. FlyQuest, on the other hand, got a beating in their last match. The spirit in the two camps couldn’t be more different heading into this game.

Golden Guardians are just the sort of team bettors will want to take a punt on, and the rewards for picking them are just too tempting to ignore. After beating Evil Geniuses 3-0 in the last round, no team will enjoy facing them, and they’ll have nothing to fear from the likes of FlyQuest.

FlyQuest Have to Forget the Last Match

FlyQuest got a reality check in their 3-0 loss to Cloud9. They hadn’t made many false steps for most of the season. With 14 wins in the league and a 3-0 win against 100 Thieves in the first round, everything was going well. They even ended the regular season better than Cloud9, but everything came crashing down after the loss to Cloud9.

They can’t let the loss consume them. They’ll have learned a lot from the loss and have a second shot at making the finals and exacting revenge against Cloud9. Before that, they have to take care of Golden Guardians, who are on a bit of a high. When FlyQuest met them twice in the regular season, they had no trouble in either match, but Golden Guardians now look like a different team.

They’ve taken their game to a whole new level and wins over 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses are testimony to that. Golden Guardians have a lot of belief at the moment, which can sometimes be the differentiating factor in playoff matches. FlyQuest still have a chance of winning the Spring championship, and they can’t let the loss against Cloud9 in the last round beat them down.

They’ve still got the services of bot laner Prince, who has been in tremendous form this year. He has averaged 4.76 kills, 1.84 deaths, and 4.84 assists per game. If he can put in the sort of performances he has been putting in all year and gets some support from his teammates, there’s no reason why they can’t beat Golden Guardians and win the championship by beating Cloud9 in the next round.

Golden Guardians Have to Trust Themselves

Golden Guardians are the story of this season. They shocked many LCS fans by getting the better of 100 Thieves in the first round and followed that up with an even more impressive win against Evil Geniuses. 100 Thieves weren’t their usual selves this season but still ended the league season in third place; they are still a top team.

Despite impressing against 100 Thieves, no one really gave Golden Guardians a chance against Evil Geniuses. Evil Geniuses have been the most devastating side in the LCS for the last few years, and they tend to step things up in the playoffs. Golden Guardians didn’t care for reputations and won the match convincingly with a 3-0 scoreline. Golden Guardians had beaten Evil Geniuses in the regular season in one of their two matches but winning a best-of-five playoff match is a different story altogether.

Golden Guardians must put in another performance like this to enter the finals. Of course, FlyQuest won’t be an easy opponent. FlyQuest were a better league team than 100 Thieves and Evil Geniuses this season and beat Golden Guardians the two times the teams faced one another this season.

Golden Guardians must ignore that and look at what has worked for them in the playoffs. FlyQuest will feel a bit down after losing to Cloud9, and Golden Guardians need to use this to their advantage.

Bot Laner Stixxay’s performance will be key for Golden Guardians once again. He has averaged 4.38 kills, 1.88 deaths, and 3.96 assists per game this season. His numbers are up there with the best players in the league.

Golden Guardians haven’t got this far out of luck. They’ve got the players and the momentum on their side. They are certainly capable of pulling off another upset. Get a win here and they could make history.
