The LVP Super Liga summer heads into its second week after the championship kicked off on May 30. BISONS Eclub, runners-up from the Spring SuperLiga 2022 playoffs, take on the UCAM Tokiers in the first clash of week two. Both teams are well-placed, coming off wins from their first fixtures.
BISONS Eclub triumphed last week with a win over Spring Super Liga victors Fnatic TQ, and their confidence will likely be riding high after they displaced one of the tournament favourites. They had a decent Spring league themselves, qualifying for the playoffs after finishing fourth on the standings with a 9-9 record.
There they lost out on the top spot to Fnatic TQ, but made it through for the EM 2022 Spring Main Event by virtue of ending at second place. Unfortunately, they finished bottom of their pool 1-5 with a win ratio of only 17%.
The UCAM Tokiers finished at tenth on the standings and bottom of the table last spring, after a miserable run with only three wins from 18 games. But despite starting as the underdogs, they began the league on a positive note with a win over Team Heretics.
Both teams turned in mediocre performances in the spring split, but Tokiers eventually triumphed in what was written off as a bottom-of-the-table clash. They’ve reshuffled their roster ahead of the league in an attempt to reverse their summer’s fortunes.
Jørgen ‘Hattrixx’ Elgåen was recently added to the roster as a mid laner, after a four-month stint with KOI. They also have two new entrants for the top and bottom laners, with Rafael Adl ‘Doxy’ Zarabi and Dominik ‘ZAMULEK’ Biela joining their roles in early May.
The Bisons could be considered favourites for this clash. They already have a win in place and their standings from the Spring season tip the scales well in their favour. Tokiers have shown the right intent with their player overhaul, but it remains to be seen whether the new set of faces can hold up against a form side.

G2Arctic square off against the illustrious Barca eSports in the second clash of week two of the LVP Super Liga Summer. Barca are tipped to be the stronger of the two sides, given that they currently lead the rankings after they blew past KOI in their first-week fixture.
The square-off between the two teams was touted as a clash of the titans, given their strong standings from the Spring championship that concluded in March. Barca will be primed heading into the rest of the league given their victory over one of the tournament favourites. Barca had a memorable season in the spring leg, finishing second on the table with a 13-5 record and qualifying for the playoffs. There, they finished third on the prize pool behind victors Fntix Q and runners-up Bisons Eclub.
They’ve made some changes to strengthen their lineup post the spring tournament, with Jungler Dimitar ‘Le Bron’ Kostadinov making way for Maik ‘Hades’ Jonker, who transferred from Mad Lions Madrid in early May. Top laner Jakub ‘Dreedy’ Viceník, and bot laner Matthew ‘Deadly’ Luke Smith – atop the MVP standings for Spring 2022 – were both retained from last season.
G2 Arctic have also kicked off their summer with a win over Mad Lions Madrid. Granted, their opposition didn’t inspire much confidence – Mad Lions finished ninth in the spring rankings with a W/L ratio of 5-13 – but they will nevertheless seek to make reparations from last spring. G2 Arctic had a middling spring tournament, finishing fifth on the table with nine wins and losses apiece.
They qualified for the playoffs, but crashed out in the first round after losing 1-3 to BISON eClub. Their head-to-head against their opponents from the past spring split wasn’t promising, with Barca 2-0 up after edging them out in both their fixtures. G2 have historically been a stable unit, choosing to head into their new season continuing with their core group of players signed last year.
Overall, big guns Barca are likely to come out on top in the clash between the two teams, going by recent form and standings. G2 are unlikely to overcome the strength of Barca, if their match-ups from the past season are anything to go by.
