Best MLB Home Run Props Today: Favor the Less Obvious Targets on Wednesday
With home props, there are some days when it makes sense to favor the less obvious targets. Wednesday is one of those days, as so few of the usual suspects are in a groove or have a favorable pitching matchup. Instead, we’re taking a chance on some deep cuts, at least for most of our choices.

Home Run Picks for Wednesday, September 10
Shohei Ohtani Anytime Home Run (+164) at FanDuel Sportsbook
In fairness, Ohtani isn’t an overlooked option when it comes to home run props. However, he’s perhaps the most likely player to hit a home run on Wednesday. That explains why these odds aren’t that lucrative, but this might be as safe as it gets with home run props.
Ohtani is 6 for 8 with two home runs in his career against Kyle Freeland, who starts against the Dodgers. Freeland is rocking a 5.10 ERA and has allowed five home runs over his last 19 innings of work. While he’s only allowed two home runs against left-handed hitters this year, Ohtani has mashed against lefties enough this year to look beyond that trend.

Matt Chapman Anytime Home Run (+480) at FanDuel Sportsbook
With a modest 21 home runs this season, Chapman is sometimes overlooked as a bona fide power hitter. Plus, after hitting just two home runs in August, it was easy to forget about him. However, Chapman has been tearing it up in September, helping the Giants make a surprising Wild Card push.
Chapman currently has a six-game hitting streak, a stretch that includes three multi-hit games and three home runs. He also has outstanding numbers against Eduardo Rodriguez, who starts for Arizona against the Giants on Wednesday. Chapman is 7 for 18 with four doubles and a home run against Rodriguez, who has conceded 21 homers this year, mostly against right-handed power hitters like Chapman.

Daulton Varsho Anytime Home Run (+280) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Varsho doesn’t jump out as a power threat, although he has the shortest odds to hit a home run of anybody in the Astros-Blue Jays game. The oddsmakers recognize what we see, which is that all 18 of Varsho’s homers have come against right-handed starters. In fact, he’s slugging .680 against righties in addition to already hitting three homers in September.
With Jason Alexander starting for the Astros, Varsho has an ideal matchup. In just three career at-bats against Alexander, Varsho has two hits, including a home run. More importantly, Alexander has allowed six home runs across his last four starts.

Jakob Marsee Anytime Home Run (+560) at FanDuel Sportsbook
Marsee is the true deep cut among today’s picks. He has just five home runs this year, but keep in mind that he’s only been in the big leagues since August 1. The rookie also has seven hits, including two doubles and a home run, over his last six games. Both doubles and the homer have come in the last two days, so he’s putting together a good series against the Nationals.
More importantly, Jake Irvin starts for the Nats on Wednesday. Only Zack Littell has given up more home runs this season than Irvin, so it makes sense to target someone on the Marlins to go deep. Irvin has been crushed one start after another since the start of August, giving up 10 homers over his last 31 innings. Lefties have given him the most trouble, making Marsee the best choice to take him deep on Wednesday.
