The Atlanta Braves are closing in on the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League East. The Phillies had a 7.5-game lead over the Braves last week, and this deficit is now 5.5 contests.
Atlanta will be highly motivated on Monday against the Twins. We’re also taking the Red Sox and Mariners moneylines, as both teams are battling for a Wild Card playoff berth.

The Boston Red Sox had a terrible weekend against the Diamondbacks. Arizona swept Boston at Fenway Park, but they didn’t look good in the process.
The series ended with the Red Sox blowing a 4-1 lead against Arizona. Triston Casas and Rafael Devers both homered, but it wasn’t enough to make a difference.
They now have the Blue Jays coming to town, and Toronto has been terrible this season. Toronto has talent, but it shouldn’t be enough to tame the Red Sox on Monday.
Jose Berrios will pitch for the Blue Jays. While he has been good, Nick Pivetta has posted similar numbers.
Pivetta is 5-8 with a 4.7 ERA and a 1.16 WHIP. While he can be inconsistent, he is very good at getting the team back on track. If Pivetta can post a strong start, the team will be very dangerous.
The Red Sox have a better batting average and scored nearly 100 more runs than Toronto this season. As long as Pivetta is decent, the Red Sox should get back on track.

The Atlanta Braves are 5.5 games down in the NL East. If they maintain their current pace, they can easily make up this deficit. The team gained two games on the Phillies last week, which should motivate them to keep climbing.
The Twins also have motivation, as they’re three games down in AL Central. Minnesota is 37-26 at home this season, but Atlanta has the winning formula with how they have been playing lately.
Max Fried will throw for Atlanta. He is 7-7 with a 3.57 ERA and a 1.22 WHIP. He has allowed just 111 hits in 128.2 innings.
Bailey Ober will be hard for Atlanta to beat, but their offense has performed well in high-leverage situations. As long as the Braves can tie the Twins when the starters leave the game, we trust their offense to convert.
Atlanta has been much more battled tested down the stretch of the season. They have players who know how to finish, and we can’t say the same for the Twins.

The Tampa Bay Rays are onto 2025. Tampa Bay isn’t known for spending money on players, and they didn’t at the 2024 trade deadline.
The team focused on the future and spent most of their trade deadline collecting young assets to shape the upcoming seasons.
Since the Rays traded Randy Arozarena, they have totally collapsed. The Mariners have been atrocious on offense, but we like Arozarena to step up against his former team.
Bryce Miller will take the ball for Seattle, and he has been fantastic this season. The pitcher is 9-7 with a 3.32 ERA and a 1.02 WHIP.
Over 143.2 innings, he has allowed just 113 hits. His strikeout numbers aren’t great, but he keeps the ball in the yard. We like Miller to pitch the Mariners to a win in game one of this series.
