Best MLB Prop Bets This Weekend: Orioles vs. Reds (6:40 PM, EST)

Andrew Abbott Under 5.5 Strikeouts (116) at FanDuel

Andrew Abbott has been dealing this season for the Cincinnati Reds. The pitcher isn’t overpowering, but he does an excellent job maneuvering batters and getting outs. Abbott will face the Orioles on Saturday, which isn’t an ideal matchup for the pitcher.

Baltimore is one of the best teams in baseball and is currently a World Series favorite. Their young core of hitters has been blasting the baseball all season. The Orioles are batting .250 with a .310 OBP.

They’re third in baseball with 167 runs scored on the season, and they have done this because of their patience at the plate. Abbott isn’t a strikeout pitcher by nature, and Baltimore isn’t a team that strikes out frequently.

The pitcher is coming off a seven-strikeout game, but he has 27 punchouts in 33 innings. Baltimore is the 11th-best in baseball when it comes to not striking out. Look for the Orioles to put the pressure on Abbott and the Reds immediately, which should result in the pitcher going under on this prop.

Best MLB Prop Bets This Weekend: Angels vs. Guardians (6:10 PM, EST)

Reid Detmers Under 4.5 Strikeouts (-125) at FanDuel

Reid Detmers will throw for the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday against the Guardians. Our opinion on Detmers has changed a lot this season. At the beginning of the year, he was a strikeout-oriented pitcher and went into at-bats with this mindset.

At the beginning of the season, he was receiving Cy Young attention, and while he has still pitched well, he is no longer in this category. Detmers' strikeouts have fallen off this season.

He is 3-2 with a 3.12 ERA and a 1.15 WHIP, but he has fanned 37 in 34.2 innings. While this is still much better than most pitchers, his past three outings against good offenses have resulted in low strikeout numbers.

He hasn’t exceeded four strikeouts in his past three games against the Rays, Orioles, and Twins. These three teams defend the plate very well, which leads to the pitcher going under his props.

If Detmers couldn’t exceed 4.5 strikeouts against these opponents, he would not be successful against the Guardians. Cleveland is the fourth-best team in baseball in least strikeouts per game. They don’t have the most power in the league, but they emphasize contact, which results in putouts.

Best MLB Prop Bets This Weekend: Braves vs. Dodgers (9:10 PM, EST)

Bryce Elder Over 3.5 Strikeouts (-136) at FanDuel

Bryce Elder will pitch for the Atlanta Braves against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He can’t afford to surrender many runs on Saturday because he will face Tyler Glasnow, one of the National League Cy Young favorites.

Elder is 1-0 with a 1.33 WHIP in 12 innings. He only has six strikeouts in 12 innings, but we’re taking over 3.5 on Saturday. While the Dodgers have one of the most dominant offenses in the game, they strike out consistently.

Strikeouts are the price the team pays for having so many power hitters. Los Angeles has the ninth most strikeouts in baseball, so look for Elder to get a lot of swings and misses on Saturday.
