Best MLB Prop Bets Today 2024 08 20

Monday’s strategy of targeting only pitchers paid off, as we won four of our five bets. With a full schedule on Tuesday, we’ll mix things up a little bit, although there are two pitchers we think are poised to excel. Odds for Tuesday’s picks come from bet365, Sportsbook which is giving $1,000 Safety Net Bet OR $150 in Bonus Bets to new members who use our promo code WSN365.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Phillies vs. Braves (7:20 PM, EST)

Trea Turner Over 1.5 Total Bases (+105) at bet365

It’s impossible to ignore Turner given how hot he’s been lately. Over his last four games, Turner is 10 for 17 with three doubles and a home run. He’s gone over 1.5 total bases in all four of those games while also scoring six runs, so there are more bets involving Turner that you can sprinkle in as well on Tuesday. While Atlanta’s Reynaldo Lopez figures to be a tough matchup for Turner and the Phillies, Turner is 3 for 8 with two extra-base hits in his career against Lopez, so there should be no concern that this is a wise bet.

Zack Wheeler Under 4.5 Hits Allowed (+120) at bet365

Wheeler is from Georgia and always seems to pitch well when he goes to Atlanta. He also threw six scoreless innings against the Braves on opening day. More recently, Wheeler has been crushing it, allowing three runs or less in four of his last six starts. It’s also hard to find anyone in the Atlanta lineup who has good career numbers against Wheeler. Keep in mind that this is an Atlanta lineup that’s scored three runs or less in three of its last four games and just lost Austin Riley to an injury. This is a game that Wheeler has a chance to dominate.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Angels vs. Royals (8:10 PM, EST)

Maikel Garcia Over 1.5 Total Bases (+110) at bet365

The Royals might have a tough task against Tyler Anderson on Tuesday. But that shouldn’t bother Garcia, who is 3 for 5 with a double in a limited number of at-bats against the lefty. Garcia has also been swinging a hot bat lately when he’s gotten a chance, going 3 for 10 with a double over the weekend in Cincinnati. He’s a threat to collect an extra-base hit or could collect multiple hits in a favorable matchup against Anderson.

Cole Ragans Under 1.5 ER (+115) at bet365

Ragans has been crushing it in August, winning all three of his starts while pitching to a 1.89 ERA. He’s allowed just one earned run in back-to-back starts against the Twins and Red Sox, so replicating that success against the Angels shouldn’t be a problem. The Halos have been held to three runs or less in seven straight games. We faded the Angels yesterday when Kansas City’s Seth Lugo only gave up four hits against them, so we feel confident doing the same thing on Tuesday. This is a bad lineup and Ragans is a great pitcher, so the math seems obvious.

Best MLB Prop Bets Today: Red Sox vs. Astros (8:10 PM, EST)

Masataka Yoshida Over 1.5 Hits (+145) at bet365

Yoshida is batting .300 and has become one of the hottest hitters in the majors. He currently has a seven-game hitting streak despite not even starting one of those games. During that stretch, he has three multi-hit games and four extra-base hits, including a home run in Monday’s game. We’re also getting valuable odds from this bet, especially since Yoshida has gone over 1.5 total bases in four straight games. To be fair, Ronel Blanco starts for Houston, giving Yoshida and the Red Sox a tough task. But he’s been way too hot lately not to take a chance on him staying hot.
