Best NRFI Bets Today: Just One Game Separates These Teams In The AL Central

The AL Central has been the division to watch as the MLB season comes to an end. Just one game separates the Tigers and Guardians, and this is my favorite NRFI bet on Tuesday.

Tigers vs. Guardians - Tarik Skubal vs. Gavin Wiliams (6:40 PM, EST)

Tarik Skubal continues to prove that he is a top pitcher in the league year after year, and he will get the start for Detroit on Tuesday. Cleveland will go with Gavin Williams, and they need him to be at his best. 

It’s essential to focus on NRFI games with playoff implications, and that’s what we have in this matchup. The Tigers currently have a one-game lead over the Guardians in the AL Central. 

Skubal comes into this game with an insane record of 13-5 and a 2.23 ERA. He’s the favorite to win the AL Cy Young award for the second consecutive year. 

Skubal has struck out 233 batters in 189.1 innings, which is the second most in baseball. In his last start against Cleveland, he tossed six innings, allowing just one run while striking out nine. 

Williams enters this contest with an excellent record of 11-5 and a 3.06 ERA. He looks to bounce back against the Tigers, where in his last start, he allowed three runs in five innings. 

On the season, Williams has struck out 161 batters in 161.2 innings, which is very impressive. Cleveland will need Williams to dominate going into the playoffs, and he’s done a terrific job. 

Each pitcher should be extremely strong early in the game.

Red Sox vs. Blue Jays - Lucas Giolito vs. Kevin Gausman (7:07 PM EST)

The second NRFI I’m focusing on is in a matchup between Boston and Toronto. This game between Lucas Giolito and Kevin Gausman is expected to be outstanding, and I believe the pitchers have an advantage. 

If the season ended today, both clubs would make the playoffs, but the Red Sox have more to play for in the season’s last week. Boston currently holds a Wild Card position by one game, so they will have to be perfect in this game.

Giolito is 10-4 with a 3.46 ERA in 2025. He must have a better start than his last outing, where he pitched 4.1 innings, allowing four runs on five hits.

Gausman comes into this matchup with a record of 10-10 and a 3.38 ERA. I like him in this spot because he has been dominant over his last three games.

In Gausman’s last three starts, he has pitched a combined 23 innings, allowing just two runs. He has no doubt been one of the best pitchers this month, and I think he will continue this stretch.

Both offenses are excellent, but this pitching matchup has the clear advantage.

• Royals vs. Angels - Cole Ragans vs. Sam Aldegheri: Aldegheri has an ERA of 10.38 on the season, and Ragans has had one of his worst seasons in his career. I trust the offenses to erupt in this game. 

• Cardinals vs. Giants - Andre Pallante vs. Logan Webb: These pitchers have been highly inconsistent in 2025. They have a combined record of 20-26 and very average ERAs.
