Padres vs. Braves - Griffin Canning vs. Chris Sale (12:15 PM EST)

Chris Sale is still pitching at a very high level late in his career, and the Braves are poised to be a top contender heading into the postseason. 

Under 0.5 Run (-130) at DraftKings

Sale has been one of the most dominant pitchers in baseball this season. The veteran left hander enters Thursday with a 2.06 ERA, 1.06 WHIP, and 123 strikeouts across 105 innings. 

He has consistently overpowered hitters early in games, making Atlanta one of the safest teams to back in the NRFI market when he takes the mound.

Griffin Canning owns a rough 6.67 ERA and 1.62 WHIP, but Atlanta's lineup has cooled off at times during the second half. If Canning can simply navigate the top of the Braves' order, Sale should have little trouble matching a scoreless first inning on the other side.

Twins vs. Guardians - Taj Bradley vs. Gavin Williams (1:10 PM EST)

This is quietly one of the best pitching duels of the afternoon with the Twins and the Guardians. 

Under 0.5 Run (-125) at DraftKings

Taj Bradley has taken another step forward this season, posting a 3.85 ERA while striking out 124 hitters in just over 107 innings. His ability gives him plenty of upside against the top of Cleveland's lineup.

Gavin Williams has been equally impressive. The Guardians right hander owns a 4.00 ERA with an outstanding 145 strikeouts in 119.1 innings while allowing just a 1.15 WHIP. 

Williams has the type of fastball that can overwhelm hitters early before lineups get a second look. Neither offense has been consistently explosive in the opening frame, and both starters have enough strikeout ability to escape any early traffic.

Diamondbacks vs. Cardinals - Brandon Pfaadt vs. Michael McGreevy (5:15 PM EST)

This matchup doesn't feature the biggest names, but it offers plenty of value. The Cardinals have been one of the surprises in the National League. Their unexpectedly competitive season makes them an intriguing team to monitor when checking the latest NL Central Odds.

Brandon Pfaadt has a 4.58 ERA, though his underlying numbers have been better than the surface stats suggest. He limits walks and has generally settled in after some rocky outings earlier in the season.

Michael McGreevy has quietly been one of St. Louis' most reliable starters. The right hander owns a 2.92 ERA and 1.10 WHIP across 108 innings, consistently keeping hitters off balance with excellent command.

Both offenses have been inconsistent, and neither lineup is particularly intimidating at the top compared to some of the league's elite attacks. With McGreevy pitching as well as he has all season, this game has all the ingredients for no runs in the first inning.
