BOS: Open Quickly

The Boston Celtics are coming off of a blowout victory over the Orlando Magic. In that matchup, the Celtics were able to mount an opening first and third quarter that ensured the Magic couldn’t recover.

Boston have so many different weapons at their disposal. In the first quarter of their last game, Kemba Walker and Evan Fournier combined for 22 points. In the third it was Walker and Jayson Tatum who combined for 24 points.

The Bulls are talented, but their inconsistent defense doesn’t look like it’ll be able to slow down the Celtics in any significant way.

Celtics Key Player: (G) Kemba Walker

The Boston Celtics are looking for an offensive spark in the absence of Jaylen Brown, but they don’t need to look beyond perennial All-Star Kemba Walker.

Walker is coming off of an excellent game, scoring 32 points and contributing four assists and three rebounds in 28 minutes. His 61.1% shooting on the night was excellent.

The diminutive point guard creates many opportunities, whether or not he gathers an assist for it. With how athletic the Bulls’ wing players are, Walker’s playmaking will be as valuable as his scoring.

CHI: Bend But Don’t Break

The Chicago Bulls are back on track. After winning their last game against the Charlotte Hornets, the Bulls are ready to make a late push for a Play-In spot.

A big part of the Bulls’ success in their last game was their willingness to get off to a better start. They were up ten after the first quarter, and continued to build their lead beyond what the Hornets could catch up to.

The Celtics run a high-powered offence, with multiple players that can score one-on-one. The Bulls should get out quickly and hold on, as the Celtics are sure to go on a number of their own runs.

Bulls Key Player: (C) Nikola Vucevic

The Chicago Bulls made a splash during trade season when they acquired Nikola Vucevic from the Orlando Magic. While he’s certainly not fully integrated into the side, he’s a strong piece in their favor against the Celtics.

In his last game against the Hornets, Vucevic posted 29 points, 14 rebounds, three assists, two steals, and a block in 31 minutes of play.

While both Tristan Thompson and Robert Williams are physical interior forces, neither of them have the ability to match the inside-outside threat of Vucevic.
