Brooklyn Nets vs Boston Celtics Predictions and Picks
Our Pick |
The Boston Celtics play better at TD Garden, but the location won’t help if they can’t get a handle on the Brooklyn Nets’ scoring pace. Brooklyn have the advantage at every offensive position, and Boston’s scoring threat just isn’t enough to overcome them. |

BKN: Keep Finding Shooters
The Brooklyn Nets struggled to find their outside shot in Game 1, but they didn’t have the same issue in Game 2.
Brooklyn ended up converting on 17 of their 38 three-point field goal attempts in Game 2, led by sniper Joe Harris who converted on seven of his 10 three-point attempts.
If Brooklyn can keep pace with their three-point shooting, the Celtics don’t have the firepower to match them.
Nets Key Player: (G) Kyrie Irving

Brooklyn Nets guard Kyrie Irving will have his hands full facing his former team, in his former home arena, against his former fans.
In his last game, Irving posted a odes 15 points, six rebounds, and six assists in just 27 minutes of play.
He’s been in the media due to his criticism of Celtics fans, but Irving is unlikely to let that affect his performance. If anything, expect a big game from Irving in front of his biggest critics.
BOS: The Boston Role Players Need to Step Up
It is going to be a difficult ask for the Boston Celtics role players. They are severely outgunned and the Celtics’ main stars haven’t been on the mark. Still, the players that are usually more reserved in their production need to step up.
In their last game against the Nets, the Celtics bench players combined to score 32 points, but 13 of those 32 were produced in garbage time.
On top of Fournier and Thompson, bench players Payton Pritchard and Romeo Langford will need to grow up fast if they want to steal a victory from the Nets.
Celtics Key Player: (G) Marcus Smart

— NBA (@NBA) April 14, 2021
Jayson Tatum is dealing with a nagging injury to his eye while Kemba Walker is listed as questionable. The Celtics need production badly and all eyes are on Celtics mainstay Marcus Smart.
Smart has always been one of Brad Stevens’ more reliable players. In their last game, Smart posted 19 points, six assists, and two steals on 46.2% shooting from the field in Game 2.
The Celtics need to keep up with the Nets’ scoring ability and Smart is the third piece that can step up. His combination of competent shooting and playmaking can bolster the Celtics’ offence. He just needs to be available if his teammates are struggling.
