The Charlotte Hornets are on the up, winning their last two games against solid opposition. On the other side, the Nets will be looking to bounce back after a disappointing loss in their last game. With some key players back in the lineup, the Nets should have the edge.

The Brooklyn Nets are a team built around their scoring threat. While they are able to keep up with even the fastest pace teams in the NBA, they need to be just as aggressive on the defensive side of the ball.
In their last game, a loss to the Boston Celtics, the Nets allowed their opponents to shoot 48.2% from the field as well as 47.2% from three-point range.
The Hornets are a fast-paced, offence-oriented team who are looking to separate themselves from Brooklyn in the East. If the Nets want to gain the upper hand, they can’t go shot-for-shot with the Hornets.

Kyrie Irving slotted back into the Nets lineup once their road trip began, quickly taking the lead on the playmaking side of the court. While the Nets’ offence was in full force, Irving’s point guard duties may have to expand in order to limit turnovers.
In 37 minutes of play, Irving posted 19 points, 6 assists, 4 rebounds, and 3 steals. He shot 44.4% from the field, but converted on just 2 of his 6 three-point field goal attempts. While he had 3 turnovers of his own, he created plenty of opportunities for others.
Irving’s offensive talents are his main asset. Against a young and energetic Hornets team, Irving must control the pace while still being productive in the scoring department. His offensive ability opens up opportunities for the entire Nets team.
A team that likes to employ one of the fastest paces in the NBA, the Hornets need to use their energy to overcome the veteran Nets. That doesn’t mean they can shirk their defensive duties though.
Second in the league in fast-break points with 15.6 per game, the Hornets will try to set the pace early. However, against the size of the Nets, Charlotte can’t take their defensive duties for granted.
In losses, the Hornets are outrebounded 44.4 to 50.3 – a monstrous disparity that signifies their weaknesses. While thought to just be shooters, the Nets have the personnel to give Charlotte nightmares inside. To win, the Hornets need to take control of the pace early.

While the attention of the NBA is on the young high fliers of the Hornets roster, veteran guard Terry Rozier has been the glue that holds the team together. His recent play has helped them as they try to climb the Eastern Conference table.
In his last game, a win over the San Antonio Spurs, Rozier was brilliant. The veteran guard posted 31 points, 6 assists, and 5 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. His efficiency was what stood out, shooting 10 0f 18 from the field and 6 of 8 from three-point range.
Rozier will have a big task in front of him, as he’ll be asked to contain Kyrie Irving. The Nets star is one of the league’s most capable scorers, so Rozier’s defence must be as focused as his offence has been.
