DAL: Score As A Unit

The Dallas Mavericks saw their 2-0 lead in the series disappear, as they are once again level with the Clippers after their last loss. The Mavericks’ struggles stem from struggles to convert off of each other’s playmaking.

In Game 4 the Mavericks had 15 assists to their 31 field goals and converted on just five of their 30 three-point attempts.

Doncic is the focal point, but the Mavericks need to be able to swing the ball and convert on opportunities when he isn’t in scoring position. They had just three double-digit scorers in their last game, each with less than 20 points each. That won’t be enough in Game 5, to say the least.

Mavericks Key Player: (C) Boban Marjanovic

The Dallas Mavericks struggled in their last game against the LA Clippers, giving up 106 points on 48.1% shooting.

The lone bright spot for the Mavericks was Marjanovic off the bench. The Serbian big man scored 12 points and collected six rebounds on five of nine shooting from the field.

Marjanovic’s success is likely a sign that the Mavericks need to start finding easier shots if they want to take control of this series again.

LAC: Limit the Mavericks from the Perimeter

The LA Clippers struggled in their first two games against the Mavericks due to their inability to contain their opponents from three.

In Game 4 of their first-round series the Clippers held the Mavericks to 16.7% shooting from three-point range. LA did a great job chasing shooters and switching as well, limiting the Mavericks to just 15 assists.

When they are locked in defensively, the LA Clippers are one of the toughest teams to match up with. So long as they maintain their defensive effort, the Clippers can take Game 5.

Clippers Key Player: (F) Marcus Morris

Veteran forward Marcus Morris may not be taking a high volume of shots, but he’s doing the dirty work that wasn’t done in their first two games.

In his last game Morris posted nine points, eight rebounds, and two assists in almost 30 minutes of play. He was also solid on the defensive side of the ball when needed.

Efficiency is what is important for Morris coming into this match. He won’t get a lot of shots, but he’ll need to convert when called upon by his superiors in Leonard and George.
