The Denver Nuggets weren’t able to contain the versatile Sixers offense in their first meeting. Now with even more firepower, the Denver defense doesn’t look like it’ll be able to keep up with Philadelphia.

How can the Nuggets beat the Sixers?

The Denver Nuggets want to get back on the winning trend after losing their last game in a disappointing fashion. If they want to defeat the Sixers, Denver must do better to take care of the ball.

In their last game, a loss to the Raptors, the Denver Nuggets turned the ball over a whopping 19 times! Despite having the lead entering the fourth quarter, Denver were unable to execute and committed 6 turnovers, which led to their loss.

The Nuggets aren’t excellent in the ball security department, ranking 22nd in the league with 14.4 turnovers per game, so they’ll need to improve on their already low standards. Considering the Sixers don’t employ a high-pressure defense, Denver should be able to get into their offensive sets.

Nuggets Key Player: (C) Nikola Jokic

The Denver Nuggets’ success centers on the production of Nikola Jokic. He put in a great performance for the Nuggets in his last game, despite the loss, but failed to produce when it mattered most.

In the Nuggets’ last game, a loss to the Toronto Raptors, Jokic posted 26 points, 10 rebounds, 7 assists, and 2 blocks. Unfortunately for Denver, when they needed Jokic most in the fourth quarter he failed to produce.

Against one of the league’s other top talents at the center position, Jokic can’t afford to fade as the game goes on. If Jokic can maintain his production through four quarters, the Nuggets have a great chance at victory.

How can the Sixers beat the Nuggets?

The Philadelphia 76ers disappointed in their last game against the Brooklyn Nets. They face an equally desperate Denver Nuggets team, who have all the means to match them on the offensive side of the ball.

Despite beating them in their last meeting, the Nuggets are a tough matchup for the Sixers. Denver are excellent in the paint, ranking 3rd in field goal percentage (47.6%) and 2nd in two-point field goal percentage (56.8%), mostly due to their ability to efficiently move the ball.

The Sixers must keep up with the Nuggets ball movement to take a victory. One of the best teams in the league in terms of three-point defence, the Sixers will need to show their paint protectors are also up to the task.

Sixers Key Player: (G) James Harden

James Harden has a reputation for not showing up in games the games that matter most. In his last game, loss to his former team the Brooklyn Nets, Harden was almost invisible on the court. He’ll certainly need to be more productive against the Denver Nuggets.

In Harden’s loss to his former team, he posted just 11 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists, and 2 steals in 28 minutes of play. Not only was he inefficient from the field, shooting just 3 of 17 on the night, he committed 4 turnovers and was a team-low minus-30.

Harden needs to make an impact on the offensive end for the Sixers to be successful. Without his offensive threat, the Sixers become incredibly easy to defend in the halfcourt.
