MIL: Control the Glass

The Milwaukee Bucks were beaten on the glass in Game 1, but it seemed to stir their efforts and they’ve now been controlling the boards in order to slow down the Hawks’ pace.

In Game 3 against the Hawks, the Bucks outrebounded their opponents 50 to 37. Their energy was apparent, collecting 15 offensive rebounds on the evening as well.

When the Bucks act as a team on the glass and limit opportunities, they can control the game. If they can discourage the Hawks’ paint protectors like Capela and Collins, Milwaukee could see themselves just one game away from the NBA Finals!

Bucks Key Player: (F) Khris Middleton

Khris Middleton has always been a game-changer for the Milwaukee Bucks. In-Game 3 he showed how he can take control of a match on his own.

Middleton was tremendous in Game 3, posting 38 points, 11 rebounds, and seven assists on 15 of 26 shooting from the field. When he’s able to find his rhythm one-on-one, it takes a tremendous amount of pressure off of Antetokounmpo.

We’re not saying that Middleton needs to lead the match in scoring. However, to find success against the Hawks’ energetic defence, he needs to have a featuring role in their offence.

ATL: Push the Pace Early

The Atlanta Hawks were dealt a blow when it was reported that Trae Young’s status is in question after an MRI revealed a bone bruise in the All-Star point guard. Regardless of his availability, the Hawks need to get as many easy baskets as possible.

Despite the loss, the Hawks started well in Game 3. They forced three straight turnovers, which resulted in baskets from open play. When they settled into the halfcourt, they struggle to beat the Bucks.

Atlanta will be on the brink of elimination if they can’t beat the Bucks on this evening. As their offence has struggled, finding easy baskets and not settling into the Bucks’ comfort zone is priority number one.

Hawks Key Player: (G) Trae Young

Trae Young is listed as questionable for Game 4, but if he does play he needs to keep up the pressure in Game 4 against the Bucks. He did a solid job creating for himself and others, but their defence wasn’t up to it.

Young is coming off of a performance where he posted 35 points and four assists on 12 of 23 shooting from the field. He coped with the Bucks’ defensive pressure well, even though his assist numbers weren’t as stellar as usual.

The Hawks are only a threat when Young is initiating the offence, so he needs to continue to create. If his teammates can reward his efforts, Young can bring the series level.
