New York Knicks vs Philadelphia 76ers Pick

The New York Knicks are on a bad run of games and it doesn’t look to get better for them. The Sixers on the other hand have looked excellent since James Harden entered the lineup. It should be another in the win column for Philly.

How can the Knicks beat the Sixers?

The New York Knicks have a big task on their hands when they take on the Sixers. They will need to overcome their struggles from their last meeting with Philadelphia.

In their 125-109 loss to the Sixers, the Knicks didn’t particularly struggle on the offensive end of the ball – at least in terms of scoring. However the activity of the Sixers defence forced 18 turnovers from the young Knicks, with 6 players committing 2 or more turnovers.

New York must be efficient with their offensive opportunities if they want to win. Already struggling to defend the offensively diverse Sixers, New York can’t give up opportunities.

Knicks Key Player: (F) Julius Randle

The New York Knicks need Julius Randle to be locked in if they want to beat the Sixers. Randle wasn’t strong from the field last time out against the Sixers, but he has the opportunity to make up for it this time.

In the Knicks’ 125-109 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers, Randle posted 16 points, 10 rebounds, and 7 assists in 37 minutes of play. He was quiet from the field, hitting just 4 of his 13 field goal attempts, but he was able to get to the line for 12 attempts.

Randle must be effective from the field in order for the Knicks to win. If he can’t be of threat to the Sixers’ defenders, the Knicks don’t have enough offence to take the victory.

How can the Sixers beat the Knicks?

The Philadelphia 76ers looked great in their last meeting with the Knicks. Their offence was unstoppable, despite their struggles to convert from deep. Aggression when attacking the rim should earn them another win.

The Sixers’ ability to get to the free throw line to supplement their scoring is what helped them beat the Knicks. They converted on 39 of 44 free throws in their last game, with Joel Embiid earning 27 of them.

Philadelphia’s offence is so diverse, they can beat the Knicks in any way they want. With so much opportunity, they can’t be lazy and settle for shots. Win at the rim, opening up the chance to improve on the 30.3% night last time out.

Sixers Key Player: (G) James Harden

The Sixers seem to have come out on the winning end of their transaction to acquire James Harden. He was brilliant in his last game, showing off the potential to be the threat they need to be a championship contender.

In the Sixers’ last game, Harden didn’t miss a step. He posted 29 points, 16 assists, 10 rebounds, and 5 steals. Harden’s efficiency was surely the most promising part of his performance.

Philadelphia are sure to experience some growing pains with Harden, but his first showings have been promising. More than the points, if he can continue to find good looks for his teammates the Sixers can beat anybody.
