Spread: Miami Heat -2.0 (-110) @ DraftKings Sportsbook

Both the Miami Heat and Denver Nuggets had different looking trade deadlines, but both are trying to solidify themselves in their respective conferences. The Denver Nuggets are coming off of a win in their last game, but they are 6-4 over their last 10 games. The Miami Heat have won three games in a row, but they're an impressive 7-3 over their last 10 matches.

The Denver Nuggets are the top team in the West for a reason, as they score 117.2 points per game (6th in the NBA) on 51.0% from the field (1st in the NBA) and 39.3% from three (1st in the NBA). They're coming off of a 119-105 win over the Hornets in their last game, where they shot 50.5% from the field despite going just 5 of 27 from three-point range. The Miami Heat will counter with their stout defence, which allows just 108.1 points per game (2nd in the NBA) while forcing 16.4 turnovers per game (3rd in the NBA). Miami's defence was in full effect last game, a 107-103 win over the Hornets, as they forced 18 turnovers and held their opponents to 42.5% from the field.

We're banking on the Heat in this game, despite their rather long list of injuries. The Nuggets are also missing some key players, as the trade deadline has left them particularly thin in the back court. Despite Jokic's brilliance, the Heat defence has been in full effect off the back of Bam Adebayo's play and their guard-play should make the difference.

Total: Under 223.5 (-110) @ PointsBet

The Denver Nuggets and Miami Heat represent some of the league's top offences and defences. Given the Nuggets' excellent scoring and efficiency, they average a combined total of 230.1 points per game on a plus-4.3 points differential. The Miami Heat are much more defensive, averaging a combined 216.5 points per game on a plus-0.3 points differential.

These two teams share the interest in moving the ball, but their execution and results on offence couldn't be more different. Over their last five games, the Miami Heat have averaged a combined 215.4 points per game while shooting just 44.3% from the field and 31.3% from three. Over Denver's last five games they've averaged a combined 232.6 points per game while shooting 51.8% from the field and 33.6% from deep.

We're expecting the Heat's defence to remain intact despite Denver's excellent offence. Denver are lacking after losing Jamal Murray to injury and Bones Hyland to trade. Given the strength of Miami's perimeter defence we're expecting this game to stay under 223.5, despite clearing that total in these teams' last meeting.
