The Oklahoma City Thunder are a stronger team than they look on paper, but their depth fails them. Denver’s win streak suggests they have the form take another win, but it’s the efficiency of their offense that will seal the deal.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are lacking so many key contributors that it is hard to see a path to victory. If they hope to beat the Nuggets, they need to be competitive in the paint.
With few capable options available in the paint, Oklahoma City need to control the boards as a team. In their last game, a loss to the Sacramento Kings, the Thunder were outrebounded 46 to 38.
Without much strength in the paint, Oklahoma City need to overcome their weakness as a group. Entering as the fifth best rebounding team in the league, the Thunder must prove their ability even without many key players.

The Oklahoma City Thunder are severely undermanned, and Shai Gilgeous-Alexander has stepped up pick up the slack. The Canadian international was massive in his last game, but his teammates couldn’t support him.
Gilgeous-Alexander posted 37 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds in 32 minutes of play. He was hyper-efficient from the field, going 12 of 16 shooting the ball and nailing all 3 of his three-point field goals.
The Thunder need Gilgeous-Alexander’s production, but it is playmaking that will keep them competitive as a team. With the focus on him, his playmaking will need to be stellar.
The Denver Nuggets have found great success this season due to their excellent passing game. When they face an energetic team like the Thunder, Denver need to control the pace of the game.
Owning one of the more methodical offences in the NBA, the Denver Nuggets don’t play at an incredible pace. Instead they choose efficiency, ranking 3rd overall in field goal percentage (47.5%) and 3rd overall in assists per game (27.2).
The Thunder will want to get out and run, so the Nuggets must control the pace of the game if they hope to come out with a victory. They cannot get complacent just because of the Thunder’s unavailable players.

Season high for DeMarcus Cousins tonight with 19 PTS?pic.twitter.com/9nplo3QphR
— Nuggets Nation (@NuggetsNationCP) February 28, 2022
The Denver Nuggets signed DeMarcus Cousins for the rest of the season and he rewarded them with stellar play in his last game. In a blowout victory, Cousins proved a capable backup to Jokic.
Denver’s backup center posted 19 points, 8 rebounds, and 6 assists in just 17 minutes of play. He was 7 of 10 from the field, while also converting on 2 of 3 three-point field goals.
With little interior presence to speak of, the Nuggets big man certainly has the odds in his favor. Any production he has that can spell Jokic is a win for Denver.
