Philadelphia 76ers vs Washington Wizards Predictions and Picks

Our Pick
The Sixers have been dominant over their first three games and they look to produce a similar result in this matchup. The Wizards just don’t have the defensive ability to keep up, and their three-point shooting hasn’t helped their scoring efforts.

WAS: Contain The Sixers Offence

The Sixers are too versatile a team for the Wizards to shut down completely. But they need to choose at least one front where they can lockdown Philadelphia.

The Wizards are allowing their opponents to shoot 54.5% from the field and 41.9% from three-point range. The Sixers are hitting an average of 12 threes per game.

If they can’t stop the Sixers as a whole, the Wizards need to focus on slowing them down in one department. As is, they’re getting dominated in all areas.

Wizards Key Player: (G) Bradley Beal

The Washington Wizards have a big task in front of them, down 0-3 and on the verge of elimination. They’ll be looking toward Bradley Beal to lead them to their first playoff victory this season.

Beal had difficulties shooting the ball in Game 3. He posted 25 points on 10 of 26 shooting from the field. He is yet to make more than one three-point field goal in a game this series.

Beal is the X-Factor for the Wizards in this matchup. Their team defence just isn’t enough, but if anyone can flip the game in their favor it’s Beal’s incredible scoring ability.

PHI: Dominate the Glass

The Wizards are very capable of scoring the ball, so the Sixers need to limit their extra opportunities in order to close out their first round series.

Throughout the series the Sixers have won the rebounding battle by an average of 45.3 to 40.7. Washington’s effort can be an issue at times though, as they’ve won on the offensive boards 11.0 to 9.3.

With the size of the Sixers’ lineup, they shouldn’t be getting outrebounded. How they manage control Washington’s opportunities will determine whether or not they can close out this series.

Sixers Key Player: (G) Ben Simmons

The Sixers are in total control of this series, and Ben Simmons is the initiator of their offensive scheme. If anything, Ben Simmons could afford to be more aggressive.

Simmons posted 14 points, nine assists, five rebounds, and one steal in 30 minutes of play in Game 3. Oddly enough, despite making his way to the free throw line nine times this series, Simmons is yet to convert on a free throw.

In an elimination game Simmons will have to show his maturity. More likely than not he’ll be left open from range as his teammates attack the rim.
