The Phoenix Suns struggled in the second half against the LA Clippers. Not only were they unable to slow down the Clippers on their defensive side, the Suns were unable to initiate a consistent offence.
Despite having 22 assists on 38 made field goals, the Phoenix Suns’ offence was surprisingly stagnant at times. Chris Paul and Cameron Payne were figured out as the game went on, and other players were unable to adjust. Paul and Crowder combined for 14 of the team’s 22 assists.
Playing up-tempo when the opportunity arises and creating for DeAndre Ayton is how the Suns took three games through this series. If they can’t replicate that success, other players on the roster have to step up to fill the void.

Suns point guard and eventual Hall of Famer Chris Paul put in his best performance since returning to the lineup for the Phoenix Suns in Game 5. However as the game wore on, he struggled to make his signature impact and the Suns failed to put the Clippers away.
Paul posted 22 points, and eight assists in 36 minutes of play. He shot 8 of 19 from the field, 6 of 6 from the free thrown line, but failed to convert on six three-point field goal attempts.
Through the fourth quarter the Clippers allowed Paul to attack their defence one-on-one, which usually resulted in favor of the Clippers. To take Game 6 and find their way to the NBA Finals, Chris Paul needs to get back to his specialty and create for his teammates.
We’ll talk about Paul George in a moment, but some special attention needs to be paid to the LA Clippers role players. While the Clippers’ star man was excellent, it was the role players and the reserves that spurred them to victory.
The trio of Marcus Morris Sr., Reggie Jackson, and DeMarcus Cousins were crucial to the Clippers’ Game 5 win over the Suns. The trio combined for 60 points, 10 rebounds, and eight assists on the evening.
If all the Clippers have is Paul George attacking on offence, they won’t get far against the Suns. If they can replicate, or even improve on, their team effort in their last game, forcing a Game 7 shouldn’t be an issue.

Paul George’s performance in Game 5 against the Phoenix Suns was nothing short of brilliant. Despite some suffocating defence and hard fouls, George put on one of the best showings of his career.
The Clippers star posted 41 points, 13 rebounds, six assists, and three steals in 41 minutes of play. He was incredibly efficient from the field as well, converting on 15 of 20 field-goal attempts, 3 of 6 three-point attempts, and was a perfect 8 of 8 from the free throw line.
George showed that he can rally his team to success if they can reward his efforts in exchange. No Suns player has been able to match him defensively, so expect an aggressive Paul George coming into Game 6.
