Phoenix Suns vs Los Angeles Lakers Predictions and Picks

Our Pick
The Phoenix Suns are on a roll and the Lakers looked dejected early in their last match. LeBron James could put on a stunning effort to rally for a win, but without Davis in the lineup it looks like the reigning champions title defence will come to an end.

PHO: Get Out To A Hot Start

The Phoenix Suns have all the momentum after demolishing the Lakers in Game 5. When they enter this game, they need to take it to the Lakers early.

In their Game 5 win against the Lakers, the Suns outscored the Lakers in the first half 66 to 36. Their second quarter defence was particularly impressive, holding the Lakers to just two field goals.

It’s unlikely that the Suns will be able to hold Los Angeles to another two field goal quarter. However a focused defensive effort along with their usual offensive form could send the Lakers home for good.

Suns Key Player: (G) Devin Booker

The Phoenix Suns had the advantage in Game 5 and they were paced by All-Star guard Devin Booker.

Booker was a threat from all areas on the court in Game 5. He scored 30 points and collected seven rebounds, and five assists. He improved on his ball security as well, committing just one turnover in 33 minutes of play.

The Suns have the opportunity to eliminate the Lakers and advance to the second round. Booker can set the tone for what will be an intense elimination game.

LAL: Punish Phoenix From Three

The Los Angeles Lakers need to make the Suns feel concern with their offence. While they’ve had opportunities, the Lakers have been tentative from three.

James carried the Lakers from the three-point line in Game 5, hitting six of their 12 three-point field goals. No other Lakers player has been of consequence to the Suns though this series though.

If the Lakers want to win Game 6, they need to punish Phoenix from range. The Lakers have seen Phoenix pack the paint on them, with no consequence.

Lakers Key Player: (F) LeBron James

Once again, the Los Angeles Lakers’ playoff hopes rest in the hands of LeBron James.

James was the sole bright spot for the Lakers in Game 5, posting 24 points, seven assists, and four rebounds in 31 minutes of play.

The Lakers were outpaced by the Suns in Game 5 from the tip. If they get into a hole, they don’t have the depth to recover. James’ ability to create for his teammates will be crucial to their success.
