The Phoenix Suns are a versatile offensive team, but against the Milwaukee Bucks they can’t afford to fall behind in the points column early.
In the first half against the Bucks, Phoenix were unable to keep up due to their struggles shooting the ball. The Suns were just 2 of 14 from three-point range and allowed the Bucks to outscore them 60 to 45.
Much of their offence in the first quarter came from DeAndre Ayton in the first half, as Milwaukee were more than comfortable closing out on the three and allowing the Bucks to take the paint. They’ll want to balance their defence better, on top of remaining threatening on offence to win their third match of the NBA Finals.

The Phoenix Suns dropped their first game of the NBA Finals and a large part of their struggles came from DeAndre Ayton’s foul trouble.
In Game 3 of the NBA Finals, Ayton posted a more than respectable 18 points, nine rebounds, and two blocks in just 24 minutes of play. After accumulating four fouls just 1:35 into the third quarter, the Suns were unable to catch up.
Ayton has been fantastic for the Suns and he’s crucial to Phoenix’s success against Milwaukee. As their only reliable defensive big man, Ayton needs to stay on the court if they want to get their third win of the series.
The Milwaukee Bucks are an incredible pace-and-space team. By choosing to attack with speed and create for others off the kick, Milwaukee can run the score up in a flash. However in Game 3, after two straight losses, the Bucks chose to be much more pragmatic.
The Bucks chose to take advantage of their size and athleticism through Giannis Antetokounmpo and a surprising contribution from Bobby Portis. By being aggressive on the glass and when attacking the rim, they were able to eliminate the threat of Phoenix’s top rim protector.
With a team of capable shooters, it’s good to see that the Buck’s haven’t forgotten the inside portion of inside-out play. They are just as strong in the paint as they are on the perimeter.
The Greek Freak did numbers in Game 3.

Giannis Antetokounmpo is doing his utmost to win the Milwaukee Bucks their first NBA Championship since the early 1970’s. As seen through his Game 3 performance, The Greek Freak is a game-changing force.
In Milwaukee’s 120 to 100 victory over the Suns, Antetokounmpo posted 41 points, 13 rebounds, and six assists on 14 of 23 shooting from the field.
Antetokounmpo’s willingness to attack the rim and find beneficial matchups opened up Milwaukee offence and inspired their win. Should he operate thinking of his own opportunities first, and then building on those to create for others, Antetokounmpo can force this series level.
