Philadelphia 76ers ATS record: 42-31-1
Denver Nuggets ATS record: 40-33-1
The Philadelphia 76ers and the Denver Nuggets are competing to establish themselves as the strongest team in the NBA. Despite going 7-3 over their last ten games, the Sixers have fallen to third in the Eastern Conference after losing back-to-back games. The Nuggets are on the opposite trend, winning three games in a row but going just 5-5 over their last ten matches.
The Sixers are one of the NBA's better three-and-D teams, allowing just 110.5 points per game (3rd in the NBA) on 47.0% from the field (10th in the NBA) and 34.6% from three (4th in the NBA) while scoring 115.2 points per game (14th in the NBA) on 48.6% from the field (8th in the NBA) and 38.8% from three (2nd in the East) themselves. The Sixers need to improve their defense, as they've allowed 122.5 points per game on 49.2% from the field and 40.2% from three on 16.5 made per game over their back-to-back losses.
The Denver Nuggets will challenge the Sixers with their incredible offense, which has been averaging 116.8 points per game (7th in the NBA) on 50.9% from the field (1st in the NBA) and 38.9% from three (1st in the NBA). Over their last three games, the Nuggets' offense has been engaged, scoring 118.3 points per game on 52.0% from the field and 46.2% from three while committing just 12.0 turnovers per game.
With James Harden unavailable, the odds are against the Sixers. Denver's offense is rolling as of late, as their All-Star big man has been his brilliant self in all offensive areas. Take the Nuggets to win this match, especially with the Sixers' scoring offense taking a hit due to injury. It'll likely still be a close game, but the efficiency of Denver's offense should be the difference-maker against a shorthanded Sixers side.
Nuggets big man Nikola Jokic has led the Nuggets through their recent three-game win streak. He's averaged 28.0 points, 11.7 rebounds, and 9.3 assists on 64.6% shooting from the field and 33.3% from three-point range. He'll need to improve on his last performance against the Sixers, where he scored 24 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and seven turnovers, which resulted in a Denver loss.
The Sixers have had young guard Tyrese Maxey take Harden's place in the offense with the former MVP out due to injury, and he's performed well despite the losses. In back-to-back losing efforts, Maxey has averaged 29.0 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 4.0 assists on 60.0% from the field and 57.9% from three on 5.5 makes per game. The Nuggets hold teams to just 11.4 threes per game (3rd in the NBA) on 34.5% efficiency (3rd in the NBA), so Maxey must maintain his shooting production against an excellent perimeter defense.
