Golden State Warriors Game Notes: Win the Battle in the Paint

The Golden State Warriors have a big task ahead of them when they take on the Dallas Mavericks. Through the playmaking of their star, the Mavericks are excellent at finding good looks inside the arc. The Warriors need to lock down the paint.

It'll be easier said than done for the Warriors, when they face the Mavericks. Dallas are second in the league in two-point field goal efficiency (57.9%), while the Warriors are just 14th in two-point field goal efficiency allowed (53.5%).

The winner of this game will command the paint, thus opening up the three-point shooting of their role players. If the Warriors want to win, they must establish their presence at the rim.

Warriors Key Player: (F) Draymond Green

The Golden State Warriors are a different team when Draymond Green is locked-in and engaged, most recently putting on a season-best scoring performance. When Green is scoring the ball efficiently, the Warriors can be overwhelming.

In his last game, a win over the Minnesota Timberwolves, Green posted 19 points, 11 assists, 4 rebounds, and 2 blocks on 6 of 7 shooting from the field. Green's willingness to run the break and attack as the main screener opened up the Warriors' offence. His passing ability speaks for itself.

The Dallas Mavericks are a team that excels at limiting ball movement, so Draymond Green's playmaking ability will be key to the Warriors' success. If he can continue to find his teammates for clear opportunities, Golden State has a great chance at victory.

Dallas Mavericks Game Notes: Try to Contain the Warriors’ Hot Shooting

The Dallas Mavericks' vaunted three-point defence will be put to the test when they take on the Golden State Warriors. One of the league's best at defending the three this season, the Mavericks take on a Warriors team that are hitting almost 20 threes a game over their last three!

The Dallas Mavericks are 25th in three-point field goal efficiency allowed (37.1%), but they're also first in three-point attempts allowed (28.9) and fourth in three-point field goals allowed (10.7). However, over their last three games the Warriors are shooting 41.3% from deep while converting on 19.7 of their 47.7 three-point field goal attempts.

The Mavericks have a fair amount of offensive firepower with Doncic at the helm, but not enough to keep up with an in-form Warriors team. To steal a win, Dallas must limit Golden State in what is one of their strongest areas of play.

Mavericks Key Player: (G) Luka Doncic

To nobody's surprise, Luka Doncic is the key man for the Dallas Mavericks. His scoring is crucial to Dallas' success, almost totally defining their chances at victory. Against the Warriors, Doncic will need to be in top form.

In his last game, a loss to the Milwaukee Bucks, Doncic posted 27 points, 12 assists, and 5 rebounds in 35 minutes of play. In six games where Doncic has scored less than 32 points, the Mavericks have always lost.

The Warriors are one of the league's more solid defensive teams, 46.0% allowed from the field, so long as they can limit their opponents' pace. If Doncic can push the break while maintaining his scoring efficiency, the Mavericks have everything they need to take down their Western Conference rivals.
