How can the Warriors beat the Nets?
The Warriors always put up a strong defensive effort. However in their last game against the Hornets, it was their scoring struggles that let them down.
Golden State have the basketball version of a cannon in Stephen Curry, but the scoring ability drops off significantly from there. Their bench in particular needs to step up. Outside of Kuminga, who only scored 9 points in 9 minutes of play, their bench contributed just 11 points on the evening.
Brooklyn aren’t exactly the deepest team, but the opportunities Durant and Harden create for others is enough to widen the gap against any team. If the Warriors stay close when Curry is off the court, they have a great chance at victory.
Warriors Key Player: (G-F) Andrew Wiggins
ARE YOU KIDDING ANDREW WIGGINS?! pic.twitter.com/31pnBhjjyW
— Golden State Warriors (@warriors) November 11, 2021
The Golden State Warriors have some fantastic pieces and players that would run through a wall for Steve Kerr. But while all eyes are on Stephen Curry, it is Andrew Wiggins whose impact could turn the game most.
Wiggins is coming off of a game where he put up 28 points, 6 rebounds, and 2 assists on 12 of 19 shooting from the field. His scoring efficiency is a must, especially with Nets defenders hounding Curry around the perimeter.
The Canadian international is Golden State’s second-most capable scorer, and after him the drop in quality is apparent. If Wiggins can get involved in the scoring early, the Warriors always have a chance at victory.
How can the Nets beat the Warriors?
The Brooklyn Nets take on the Warriors in what will be a tough matchup between one of the league’s most dangerous offences and the top defence.
When faced with a tough defensive unit, the best course of action is to spread the ball and move for opportunities. The Nets are already fifth in the league in assists with 25.1 per game.
Brooklyn’s role players need to be proactive and efficient in the offence if they hope to beat the Warriors. Durant and Harden will get their numbers, but they won’t get a victory if they can’t capitalize on the creation of their stars.
Nets Key Player: (G) James Harden
It's what @JHarden13 does ➕1️⃣ pic.twitter.com/ZWVrg96x8L
— Brooklyn Nets (@BrooklynNets) November 15, 2021
James Harden has by no means had a poor start to the season, but he’s performing well below his historical ability – especially in the scoring department.
A career 25.0 points per game scorer, Harden is a pedestrian 19.5 points per game – at least by his standards. It is his lowest season scoring average since his last season in Oklahoma City (his third year in the NBA).
Against a stout Warriors defence, Harden needs to make a big impact on the offensive side of the ball. He attracts so much attention and is such a skilled playmaker that a big night from him could easily secure victory for Brooklyn.
