When you look at the betting odds, the Big Ten is becoming a top-heavy conference. However, the championship game is determined by the East and West division winner, so we could see a team make the title game that perhaps shouldn’t.
Below, we have our three best for the Big Ten Conference.
The Wolverines are 4-0, but are 0-3-1 ATS. Games have been closer than you’d like, but you can’t argue the wins. Quarterback J.J. McCarthy started off red hot, but came back down to earth against Bowling Green, throwing three interceptions and just 214 yards and one score against Rutgers.
Still, their defense is loaded, McCarthy has reliable weapons, and Blake Corum at running back.
This no slowing down the Wolverines on their way to the Big Ten Championship game.
Heading into their matchup against the Notre Dame Fighting Irish, there was real concern for how quarterback Kyle McCord would perform. It took until the final drive, and while he may have avoided a game-ending interception, he made some key throws to move the drive along and win in the final second 17-14 on the road against the Fighting Irish.
Michigan is the tall task for the Buckeyes, but McCord, along with the Buckeyes defense and his elite weapons showed they’re going to be a tough team to take down.
The Penn State Nittany Lions are 4-0 this season and also 4-0 ATS, meaning they’re beating teams with ease. Heading into Week 5, they have a matchup on the road against Northwestern as massive favorites.
Quarterback Drew Allar has been excellent this season. He’s completing 67.2% of his passes, has a yards-per-attempt average of 7.2, after posting an average of just 4.5 in Week 4 against the Iowa Hawkeyes, and has just one turnover-worthy play.
He doesn’t push the ball downfield much, but he carves up the intermediate level of the field (10-19 yards), and he’s performing well.
Averaging just 4.5 yards per attempt against Iowa, Allar still had four touchdown passes and completed 67.6% of his passes for 166 yards.
Look for Allar and edge rusher Chop Robinson to keep things moving. They could potentially upset either Michigan or Ohio State.
Placing a futures wager on the Big 10 champion is easy. After browsing the reviews on our site for the top online sportsbooks, you’ll want to create an account there and make a deposit. Once you complete this, you’ll want to visit the college football betting page, see the futures section, add it to your bet slip, and confirm your wager.
Remember—futures wagers won’t get resolved until the end of the season, which is why the odds have the value they do. If you’re OK with tying up your money for a few months, you’ll be awarded for a successful wager.
